I have to give ASUS kudos for following up and actively seeking answers toward resolving the Sabertooth's x79 motherboard issues. In the past few days I've been receiving active tech support from a number of technicians at ASUS in an attempt to resolve some of these issue if only to id them-with no hesitation in giving me an RMA. Just hope I don't inherit yet someone else's previous headache with a return.

I'm not sure about other companies and cannot speak for their tech support as I have always bought ASUS motherboards. Without this support  I would be looking else where to buy my motherboards.

My only suggestion is to research reviews on any board you intend to buy and look at the errors people are reporting and their frequency.

Didn't you post yesterday that you had been so badly violated that you needed one of those special pillows?

That post still stands -the manufacturing of these boards sucks big time.  But their tech support has been responsive.

Well, I'm sure you know what RMA stands for...

Oh, man, I'm afraid to find that one out. I told the guy that I didn't want to inherit someones damaged board that ended up being recycled.

Good to hear they have improved there ... Asus support in my experience sucks big time!

They hopped right on my post and stayed with it - I noted that the issues were not isolated to my own experience. Back in 2005 their support and RMA was via an 800 number that changed a few years ago and it became almost impossible to connect with anyone in product support. Lately, that seems to have changed. May be just because the way the economy has been going they are now finding it necessary to get back to good customer relations?! May be?

You are so correct lol .... I had to RMA a board and they sent it back!! to me in a worse condition. I ended up taking ASUS UK to the small claims court and I won the case, even then they would not pay up until I took it a step further and went back to the court and had the bailiffs sent to there main HQ where ASUS had to pay up there and then including the extra charges for the bailiffs

" ASUS Support A Plus Side- Or A Complete Disaster?"

I remember buying a brand new dual socket Xeon motherboard a couple of years ago, and the damn thing was nothing but trouble right out of the box.  It would boot sometimes, till today not sure why, and then it finally decided it would never boot.  It would make strange clicking sounds and a lot of other weird things.  Finally running their diagnostics it showed that the board was DOA and needed RMA'ing.  To put a long story short, I never did manage to RMA the board after getting the run around and I finally gave up and just threw the damn thing in the garbage.  Compared to Intel, where I had one motherboard that I damaged (completely my fault) due to moisture damage that was caused by me not insulating the board properly when I was running it under vapor.  After honestly explaining what happened to Intel by email, they actually sent me a code which I took to FedEx and told me to send them the board free of charge using the fedex code ... before I even had the opportunity to send the board via Fed Ex my spanking new board had arrived.  Even though it was 100% my fault, they just told me to be more careful next time and sent me a new board.  If you want to see good customer support, then you really should check out Intel!

The indication is by ASUS Tech support - although , I am now unable to now quote them- that I will be getting a new board-however I was just given  this disclaimer that was noticeably hitherto missing  my previous communications with tech support. I don't think they like to be quoted in a  blog.

Receiving a new board on Thursday 24th.

Tech support was excellent from beginning to end in communication with me strait through. I have absolutely no complaints so far with how they handled this.

I use Asus and they have excellent support options when a board craps out.

I find they also tend to be more durable than some rivals. In my shop my server board is 2007 vintage and it works fine.

My gaming rig is newer of course.

After I get some other pieces I am likely going to get a new board but I am waiting for PCI Express 3 slots to come to AMD

On my P6 x58D it was a memory slot came in defective. The same with the first Sabertooth x79 a bad memory slot. Asus replaced the P6 x58D without question and the retailer the first sabertooth x79. When I sent in this recent board the tech support indicated possibly  bad hardware on the board. They didn't get specific. They also told me to not hesitate to contact them should I have any further trouble with the new board.

I had five posts disappear earlier! Someone didn't agree with the political nature of those posts.

Perhaps the implementation of an "Overlord"?
