A friend of mine (using Windows 7) gets the following Position Setup window, with the strange "letters" KQNLRP instead of normal figurines (normal: see below). The problem only occurs on the Position Setup window, all the other game windows are fine.
Any idea???

Strange. If users had that, or a similar problem, I think all board displays were affected. That was a problem with the installation of the CB. figurine fonts. Maybe the setup window uses another font file which is missing. Sometimes, fonts are not installed if the user doesn't have administrator rights during installation.
My first idea would be to try another piece style, in other words change the piece set, and see what happens.
If this doesn't help: I don't know if the CB. fonts are available for manual installation in an extra directory, on the DVD. It may be required to re-install or "repair" the complete installation while being in administrator mode.

Thanks, Mike!
Actually, when he tries that (right-click on the board, "Board Design", "Pieces", the choice is... empty!
So there really is some kind of a problem with the chess fonts.
Actually, after some Google search, we found that other people had the same difficulty:

Hi Mike,
Problem solved!
Steve Lopez gave the solution in http://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-equipment/fritz-13-trouble
(and of course also valid in the Fritz 11 GUI):
It's definitely a font problem. About the only suggestion I can offer is to go to the Fonts folder on the Fritz 13 DVD and manually (re)install them (CTRL-A to highlight them all, then right-click and select "Install") in case one has become corrupted or gone missing.
...and it worked!
