was a child?

I read in the following link that Reshevsky tell that when he learned chess when he was 5 years old and that short time after it his parents took him to chess clubs and he could beat everybody in his town and later they took him to the large city of Lodz and he did well against the best players there.

It seems to me not logical.
I expect a little child(even in case that he has a big talent for chess) to lose against the best players of a large city and I do not know a single case today of a player with fide rating above 2000 that is 7 years old.

Looking at the fide rating of players of this age I find
Ribero, David Felipe from colombia with rating 2050 but this rating is a lie because it is based on a tournament when all the opponents had rating of 2089 that is practically impossible

Its very hard to measure his strength he was doing things back then that were unheard of. On top of what you said, he also had unbelieve blindfold exhibitions. I believe he still has records that still stand even today.

There are two games from 1917 at http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessplayer?pid=11209

Judging from these two games he was clearly weaker than 2000 Elo. However, he was only about six years old at that time.

Played with great maturity and logic vs capablanca!.

He was an outstanding calculator first and foremost according to Fischer.

His actual rating when he was so young hard to say. How strong were the best players in his club?

He could already have been older than seven years when he had his Peak ELO Rating 2680.
