Well sometimes you have to look at interesting unusual moves like at Ke7!? for a little bit and you will see something different. Usually I would be putting my foot in my mouth, but I think this idea is decent in my view.
Parent - - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-02-02 04:04
well, maybe you are right Jimmy, and i overpassed something in my analisis
Parent - - By TheHug (Bronze) [us] Date 2012-02-02 04:07
I had based my assessment on 14.Qh3 not 14.Qf3 its a better move, no sense in going for tactical moves when Qf3 holds the ship better positional. By the way we are using the same engine for this so, we probably won't be missing much.

> By the way we are using the same engine for this

You, Houdini users , I actually never turned Houdini nor other Ippo derivatives in this game against Paul and have no plans to do so.
Parent - By TheHug (Bronze) [us] Date 2012-02-02 04:13
Well in real games I don't use it that much, I was just window shopping so to speak.
Parent - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-02-02 04:19
well,we have an interesting match Uly,me using only Houdini, and you cant using Houdini or Ippo derivatives
Parent - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-02-02 04:18
right,im using Houdini
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-02-02 03:50

> 13.Rb8!? with a 0.15-0.20 in whites favor.

Already blew that up to 0.43 in white's favor (though I didn't like the variations anyway.)

Heh, Paul just killed this line for me, I'll see how far I'd need to deviate as black
Parent - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2012-02-02 03:56
i will move to left.
Parent - - By TheHug (Bronze) [us] Date 2012-02-02 03:48
The line in question is ...13.Rb8!? 14.f5 Qb6 15.Qh3 and the usually move Ke7. Now look at this deep and see what you think.
Parent - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-02-02 03:51
dont play 15.Qh3,is much better 15.Qf3
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-02-02 03:52
Barnard is right, White plays 15.Qf3 in there.
Parent - - By TheHug (Bronze) [us] Date 2012-02-02 03:55
Your probably right, not going to comment on it anymore.
Parent - - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-02-02 04:00
Jimmy,we are commenting, seems that you are bothered by my comment...just was a comment, not more
Parent - - By TheHug (Bronze) [us] Date 2012-02-02 04:02
No not bothered at all you are right Qf3 is a better move.
Parent - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-02-02 04:05
ah ok...from your other message,i think you were bothered by my analisis/comment,and that wast my intention Jimmy
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2012-02-02 11:25
just trashtalk.
Parent - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-02-02 11:31
Well, phew! I'm still trying to solve this position to a draw, just in case! :yell:
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2012-01-26 01:29
makes a change from a Najdorf.:surprised:
Parent - - By Wrath of the Titans (****) [ph] Date 2012-01-27 15:04
Uly is this your 2nd sicilian game? I remember you won in brilliant style using sicilian and it was your 1st game using it. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Parent - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-01-27 23:47
It's my third one, I know Razor might not want to count it but our Machine Vs. Centaur challenge was a Sicilian and he ran away in 9 moves.
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2012-01-29 01:07
i think Uly may find this game slightly more difficult,at least i hope so.

>i think Uly may find this game slightly more difficult,at least i hope so

Hi,
Running through my database black has a lot of counter play in these positions. Personally I would have played f3 instead of f4 but that is a matter of personal preference

Hi Wizard, I know you're a great corr chess player and would like to ask you why you're unable to join the WBCCC, and otherwise ask you if you're up for a game.
Parent - - By BigBen (****) Date 2012-01-30 07:28
Hi Uly,
I was asked if I would like to play in the WBCCC but I simply do not have the time to spend on chess anymore. With two and a half jobs (working for my brothers building company, We have the shop and the half bit being personal so called training at the gym) taking up the whole day plus since my father died I have to check on and look after my mother who is house bound, this takes time in the evening. I would not think it fair on my better half Sandra if what time I do mange to get free I spent it playing chess in the evening :twisted: ....... In march we get our first holiday for some time so I will be away for two weeks on www.meeru.com and the only comp I will have is the iPAD 2 I was given recently and which I am trying to find a use for other than stockfish chess and angry birds which I don`t get to play much anyway, not sure if we even have a decent internet connection in the middle of the Indian ocean so I may simply fall off the radar so to speak.

I do not mind playing a game but the time and effort I can put in is limited, one thing I have noticed for sure is that there are many more people on this forum skilled in using computers for chess than me and I suspect you are one of them

Regards
Tony

>Thanks BigBen, and I hope you have a great holiday in March

Oh I intend to lol we booked the taxi to take us to and from the airport so that I do not even have to do any driving this time

>i could do with a holiday also,i never seem to have the time.If i did go i might enjoy myself so much i may never come back.I think you know what i mean

Paul m8 I totally get what you mean and everyone deserves an holiday, oddly everywhere I go there is always some kind of chess set (see pic of the start of my game against Sandra in Cuba, it was agreed drawn at this stage and we went for rum and cokes lol)
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-01-31 08:47
I remember that pic, with the pawns totally looking like Bishops, but didn't notice until now that the Rooks look like Bishops as well!
Parent - - By BigBen (****) Date 2012-01-31 09:33

>but didn't notice until now that the Rooks look like Bishops as well!

Hey Uly dear chap I think you made specs lol  either that or I need em as to me the rooks look like rooks and nothing else  ... Pic below is in Kenya although the pieces were locked in a box with a padlock on it :yell:

Hi,
Must admit my favourite chess board when on holiday was at the Leela Kempinski hotel in Kerala, India ..... It was like a small park with carved stone chess pieces all round and the chess board is where you gather in case of fire!!
- - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2012-02-02 04:05
i rarther like this position,i think Uly knows what i am going to play.if you look at my games i play one of 2 ways blind attack or like Petrosian:smile:
Parent - - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-02-02 04:10

Sorry to blow up your thread, I thought I seen something. But it looks like I may have been a little off.

Its hard to compare someone's Analysis you did for 20 minute, when they have probably been looking at it for a few hours. No insult intend.
Parent - - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-02-02 04:23
Jimmy,my analisis for the line i gave you only took me about 5 minutes or less, just see when you posted the move you want to play, and when i posted my answer to you...and i have an obsolete computer
Parent - - By TheHug (Bronze) [us] Date 2012-02-02 04:27
My computer isn't much better than your's, we have the same duo core, my is like 2.14ghz I think. We are probably a few mhz difference of each other.
Parent - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-02-02 04:28
yours is faster than mine, mine is 2.0 Ghz
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-02-03 07:42
No Paul, I don't know what you're going to play , but I just hope to have covered enough terrain. At least, I didn't like any other move, my road seems narrow.

16.Bd3
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-02-07 12:03
Phew! I was really afraid of 16.g3!? in there, as the evaluations shot up and I couldn't stop them. They were looking so bad that I was considering avoiding exf5.
Parent - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2012-02-07 12:23
i played Bd3 from memory,i will have a look at g3 later to see if you were right.
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2012-02-28 23:34
i am having a look again at 16.g3,atm it does not seem better than move i played.

will let you know in due course.
Parent - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2012-02-28 23:58
after 16.g3 lets take the following moves as read. 16...fxe4 17.Bg2 f5 18.Rhf1 now after what i consider blacks best move  18...Qe5 i am getting lower evals than move i played.,not by much i will admit but lower.

apologies Uly,i haven't had time to look at this game for a while.
Parent - By TheHug (Bronze) [us] Date 2012-02-14 01:51
You can be forgiven, I bet you have been spending many hours with just your game with Matt alone per move.
Parent - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-02-15 03:40
No problem, I also slowed down in all my games, the worst case scenario would be getting a winning advantage in a WBCCC and then losing on time, so one just has to play faster there.
