I was wondering if Chessbase defends Vas, maybe Rybka 5 will be sold by Chessbase in the next couple of months..... Regards!

Maybe stronger, but not significantly so would be my guess. Vas needs to hold stuff back for the cluster, safe from reverse-engineering eyes, and I don't blame him in the slightest for this.

It might be difficult enough to reach Houdini 2.0 -strength.
If R5 will be a bit stronger than H2 that would be very good.
I don't think that Vas will be able to hold stuff back. There isn't eough stuff!

I think Rybka 5 will be 65+ ELO stronger than Rybka 4. :) That is my prediction.

Perhaps you should start a thread or two on 'WHEN will R5 be officially delivered in to the public domain' and 'HOW MUCH STRONGER will R5 be over R4 or R4.1 as measured by IPON' - perhaps you can convince Vas to award the one whose predictions are closest to get a free copy.

R5 might be released some day this fall or maybe rather early winter. It will be irrelevant by then if it's stronger than H2c or not.... :->

There is now strong competition between the commerical engines. I prefer to wait a little and see which one of the four commercial engines will be the strongest:

1. Deep Rybka 5
2. Komodo 4 multiprocessor
3. Houdini 3
4. Deep Fritz 13

Regarding Deep Fritz 13 I believe it will only reach Naum 4.2, so it still has a pretty long way to equalise the giants. Maybe the 15th version will be very strong. Until then we have to wait about 4 years. Probably Deep Shredder 13 will surpass Naum 4.2 by about 40-50 ELO points, as the latest version was released 3 years ago. This would make him a real strong engine. Who knows..... Regards!
