Hi
I recently got interested in Chess Variants. I used to be in the 90es a good club chess player. Then i stopped playing in clubs and tournaments because of professional engagements.
A few years earlier, i played chess more actively. Especially Correspondance chess. Computers has really made correspondance chess in particular a more difficult game. Without any skills, purhaps we know how to use computers, we can beat even stronger opponents.

That's why i turned to play chess variants.

Check this excellent chess variant at www.musketeerchess.com, with rules explained.

Chess variants like Fischer random, will really not help you play better.
For 2 reasons, One is that to play beter chess, you need to play REAL CHESS, not bughouse, give a way chess etc.
Second, chess variants are great for kids, not adults, because of what I have said above.
Kids love chess variants !

That's not the reason you play them, you play them because they're fun. I claim that the Crazyhouse Chess variant is more fun than chess, but apparently people are stuck in the other one for all the information already available (just like Conway's game of life is only the most interesting because of all the information available about it.)

> Second, chess variants are great for kids, not adults, because of what I have said above.

What does being able to improve has to do with a game being better or that it's a kid game or an adult game? That's a fallacy. It's like saying:

Playing Chess will not help you play better in Crazyhouse.
Playing Crazyhouse will help you play better in Crazyhouse.
Therefore, Chess is great for kids, not adults.

Hi
Interest in chess variants is not only the fun, but also to play some thing more complex than Chess. For masterGreg i'd like to say that i'm a FIDE 2200 rated chess player. So i play orthodox chess and i'm quite good at it. My interest in Chess Variants is to avoid endless chess opening preparation and deeply computer analysed variations where the player who has the best memory can easily win even if he plays against a stronger opponent.

Check www;musketeerchess.com for fun

hi
My homepage is an amateur selfmade homepage. It's not intended for commercial use.

I intend to promote this chess variant because it was developed after many reflexions and it is an improvement of Seirawan Chess Variant, that was developed by GM Yasser Seirawan.

I'll be very interested of a programmer that impelments this chess variant as an engine. I'm especially interested in which value he will give my Two new Pieces.

Thanks for your comments. It's always interesting. I like also your smiley !!

Bobby Fischer would agree, and he talked about Fischer random chess, at the end of his life.

Fischer preferred without any doubt Classic Chess. He proposed Ramdon Fischer, specially to beat Kasparov easyly, without challenge the opening analisis by Gari's analist,....but Gary refused.

By the way, as much as I'm a huge Fischer fan, there is NO WAY, he would have ever beaten Kasparov.

Anand said that "Memorization is a part of real chess." I STRONGLY AGREE !!

I now teach chess to kids and I just picked up a book, on chess variants, for me, so I can teach the KIDS !!
As far as Fischer, at the end, he hated regular chess, & he only wanted to play Fischer Random.
