Is there a way of taking a CTG chessbase opening book and somehow getting its moves inside an IDeA project?
I don't mind if I have to convert it to something else along the way. Would be really good to use the latest opening books this way!

no there is no way.
I've had the same idea a long time ago, but could not find a solution since then.
I now enter some of the critical lines by hand.

There is no need to resort to doing so by hand if you have a Chessbase GUI on the same computer as your IDeA. Simply open that GUI while IDeA is also open, use the arrow keys in the .ctg window to select the moves you want made in the various lines (if there is a long single line, just holding down the right arrow key will quickly have the whole line generated), going back to particular moves to go through multiple lines in these, etc. Then, do "copy game", and paste it into the IDeA window in Aquarium, and have it analyze all tasks.
yep, that is how I do it. I also have used Dadi's article to install the ctg into Aquarium in first place, but inside aquarium, the ctg does not show the !!, !, !?, ?! sings at all.
Duh! Such a simple solution and I didn't think of it!
I'll do this, thanks. Way quicker than my manual entering in of moves. I guess you have to be careful not to miss branches in the tree though

You can add a column from the ctg book showing the colors of the moves. Also the "success %" and/or the numbers of positions for each move... see Dadi's column here or on ChessCafe.com. sorry I don't have time to look it up for you. Load it as a ctg Using tree>load ctg from the ribbon.
It's pretty inefficient but what I do is just create a tree out of my Playchess games db and use buffos' Export Tree to EPD script to add the tasks to an IDeA project. The only problem with this method is that you get a lot of sub-par lines added to the tree. That said, there's really no such thing as too much information if you're analyzing openings and have plenty of time to sort through the results. I do the same with several different trees -- the Rybka 4 opening book, a tree of corr games etc. Seeding a project in this way is a great way to kickstart a project.
Thank you to everyone who answered, I now have a workable solution. Moz - I ought to be brave and take the plunge on scripting, it just looks a bit complex atm!
