Going to redeem yourself with the caro vs Paul? I have to admit the last time you played it. It was interesting to watch.
Well i'm going to try?
Sorry Mark that come off as a bit insulting. Didn't mean it that way.
Did not take it as an insult. No need to apologize.
i was not expecting that.
Thats a result Paul not expecting c6

could be fun.
thought i would take a leaf out of Alans ideas.nothing wrong with this move.
I'll have to look that one up. If he plays 1.b3 c6 2.e4!?

Hi Nelson, got many games of this position. 4...c5 got me out of book, although i expected it.
PurePower, Rybka 3-Heyer, Rybka 3 Dynamic, 1/2-1/2, 2009.10.25 is the first game to wind up in this position. Only four games have been here before.

Novelty move. Millions and millions of games, never seen this before. Indicates the vastness of the unexplored territory.
How many games did you have after 2.b3?
A pretty fair number. Can't be more specific. I can say that 2.b3 has been seen in less than 1 in 1,000 games and is my #12 move in that position (out of 29)!
You know I just had a good laugh a sec ago. I just realized that your book is so big. That when you say you have a move played 2% of the time. That could still be more games than anyone has in the entire line.
I doubt that I have a 50-1 advantage over everyone else! If you're talking databases, no way. If you're talking opening books, it depends.
Of course I was thinking opening books here. What surprises me is how many unplayed moves you have in your book. Anyway on a personally note. It would be pretty hard to get a book as big as yours so I probably prefer to just make a solid manual one and use other strong books as references.
A solid manual book can completely neutralize my big one and perhaps even gain advantages. But you need to be able to following prepared lines. A big book doesn't always cooperate with the plan. But this game is an example of exactly how to defeat the book: drive toward an unexplored position and be very deeply prepared. Anyone can do it, and it's a lot of fun to spring something new on an opponent.

Paul you are missing the black 3rd move in your diagram post.

You have an interesting formation going on here.
its indeed strange i agree.
Let's be positive and call it flexible!
yes,you can certainly say that.a new game for every bookmaker, and not blitz.

Mark, the trouble is i am hardly going to play my main moves against 1...c6 in my friendly game against you.
anyway it gives Nelson new games.
anyway it gives Nelson new games.
No problem Paul every game we play is very interesting to me.
You guys are not quite completely free from the gravitational pull of the book yet. There have been potential moves all along that could have transposed you into positions seen before. But you guys are skirting those options every time. You just don't want me to be involved, I get it.
With Paul's last move i now have 132 games in my database.
Yep, and I have many more. But you have a pretty big database, there!
I ahve another database with 518 games on it. Still not as big as yours.
Now you need to combine all the games from all the sources and remove doubles.
True, that would be a good idear
