We are glad to inform you that Aquarium 4.0.7 update is released.

There are no major visible changes in it. But there are a lot of fixes inside. We were working hard  and about a hundred of different fixes were done to provide this release.

Two important issues that were solved are:
1)  Minimax process in IDeA became times faster. This is especaily visible when you operate with a lot of positions (like 100 000 and more).
2)  Game analysis with large time control worked too fast in previous builds and didn’t provide expected quality.

Aquarium update package includes update of Rybka 4 engine to Rybka 4.1 engine with a number of bugs fixed in her.

The links:

Full update package from any 4.* version up to 4.07, build 413 with Rybka 4.1.

Installation program searches for previous Rybka 4 versions and adds correspondent Rybka 4.1 files. The engines are not linked to Aquarium automatically. This should be done manually.

Full Aquarium 4.0.7 package with Deep Rybka 4.1 instead of Deep Rybka 4.

A proper serial number is essential to install. (Databases are not included into the package)

Full Aquarium 4.0.7 package with Rybka 4.1 (1 CPU) instead of Rybka 4.

If you already have Aquarium 4.0.6 or Aquarium 4.0.7beta installed and you don't want to perform update installation (some of your minor settings can be reset to default afer installation) you may just change previous Aquarium.exe to a new one.
It is direct link to Aquarium.exe, 4.0.7, build 413 file

The same file in zip-archive. You need to unpack it to Aquarium folder

This release is looking very stable.  Congrats to the development team!

I downloaded the 4.0.7 exe by itself, because their was no Deep Rybka exe package... just a single cpu package.  The Deep Rybka one was bundled with a full Aqu install.  Is it possible to have a Deep Rybka download link?

Thanks for all the hard work... perhaps someone should "sticky" this thread like they did for the 4.0.6 release.

Link is in the post above (3rd link from the bottom: about Rybka4 -> Rybka4.1 update).

The lack of official Rybka 4.1 update is that it searches proper Rybka4 files only in one folder. So to update several engines (1-cpu, deep, w32, x64) you need to run it several time for every folder where Rybka4 engines are placed. The advantage is that it is small - 2MB.

happy =)

edit1: so my main pc is on repair for the water cooling kit installment. So far, I've only tested on my laptop  by letting AQ run overnight on a 300 000 position tree. Wow, I was able to stop AQ successfully this time in the morning without a crash =) or without a $mm file creation or without stalling. It runs smooth.

Which update to use if you have AQ 4.06 and R4.1 so that one does not have to link again to R4.1?
Does one just download Aquarium.exe and copy it over the old Aquarium.exe (4.06) or how does one install it without losing settings?

Yes, just the exe.

It auto-expands fine on my 500 000 position tree on my laptop, but the task generation stage takes really long. I guess that is normal. Most importantly, everything seems more robust. No $mm files, no halting when I attempt to stop Idea, this large tree actually can minimax just fine when I stop Idea, no crashes on large trees etc. So overall, the robustness seems to be much better.

with so many positions.. its logical. It would be better if you used smaller trees (shape with crop.. save positions.. etc) and merge them to Master tree.
You will be more productive that way.
