Topic Rybka Support & Discussion / Rybka Discussion / Infinite analysis vs. automatic play.. the same?
My question is regarding whether the analysis Rybka does in infinite analysis mode is identical to the analysis it does during a timed, autoplay game. That is, let's say in position X, Rybka is to move in a timed autoplay game. After say, 25 seconds of pondering, Rybka makes its move. Has Rybka performed the identical analysis it would have performed after 25 seconds of infinite analysis? Will the best move of infinite mode always be the move Rybka would in fact play after that amount of time?
It seems it probably is identical, but then I got to wondering, if maybe Rybka changes its analysis to try to reach some level of completeness in a given amount of time, under the pressure of the clock. Or is the engine itself totally unaware of the clock? I hope I have explained this question correctly. :)

Yes, the analysis is identical. The only purpose of the clock is to decide when to cut off the search and play the current best move.
