Hello everyone.
i need help in the area of chess computers. i like to play a lot of chess, i dont personally own a chess engine (blame the fact that my hardware is really really bad)but i like to play a lot of people online. i play in a chat client on my playstation 3 known as playstation home, a free service.

me and a colleague decided to hold a chess tournament but are afraid of people using "outside help" so to speak, in order to win the prizes. we have had experience with this before
e.g we both have very good play (possibly the best on the chat client atm) we met another person never seen before and he managed to defeat both of us but had no chess knowledge at all. even saying he never opened a chess book in his life, but managed to play opening lines perfectly like a pro.
Another case was when i played someone on a winning streak and defeated him 3 times in a row, and quite badly too, but he left and returned a week
later, demanding a match (which i agreed to but clocks arent available in game so we just play as fast as we can) for which  he took well over 15 seconds every move even a queen exchange where the only move was for king to take queen, and almost won but a bad blunder midgame lost him a good position, he played my colleague only to draw with him several times.

i dont like cheaters but they do exist i have to accept that. i was wondering if there was a foolproof method in finding out who was genuine and who was not?
perhaps a chess puzzle (we can set up positions on some boards) that a person of such a high level can solve quite easily but a computer would miss?

any help would be greatly appreciated
if this is in the wrong forum let me know also i will move to the correct one.

It's one of my studies, perhaps it helps...

I know other studies (not mine) that may be of help, but I can't find them right now. I'll come back with links when I find them.
Anyway, the idea is that the study needs to have zugzwang and/or fortresses and/or long term strategy (when the idea is more important than the number of moves to get to a certain position)
