Just kidding you Tim . Actually I thought you may pull Rxb3 or something out of the hat. If you did that than I would have been shocked

I dunno. I was thinking about it. There is just something about that +2.00 that just looks... right.

Actually if you read some of my post. You find I am usually a very respectable and kind person. I meant you no disrespected, I do have a problem sometimes not coming off being a funny guy. Just someone that is serious.

Lol. Same with me. I meant my last post as a joke.
Parent - By OneSlyJoker (**) [us] Date 2011-02-20 16:12
not what I was expecting Tim. But a very good move nonetheless.

21. g5

This seems to be the path to take Na2 looks to end in a draw. Thank you for the pointers on idea. Its 68 deg today and hardly a cloud in the sky. Hows Maine wheather these days Tim?

It warming up a little. Generally stays above 25 during mid-day.
It rained a few days ago yet the temp was just under freezing (30F).
It is getting noticeable lighter out later in the day. 2 weeks ago it was dark before 5 pm, now it is at 6.
Bright blue sky today. Horrible glare off of snow and ice. Wow polarized lenses are expensive.

Since you live in Maine I was wondering. You ever taken a trip up north to Canada before?
Parent - By Weirwindle (***) [us] Date 2011-02-21 18:12
I have traveled to Canada once. It was to Saint Quetin for my grandfathers burial.
Parent - By OneSlyJoker (**) [us] Date 2011-02-21 18:01
Ahh hell, I think I just lost the game lol. damn. Its showing up as negative later. Whats your evaluation?
Parent - - By OneSlyJoker (**) [us] Date 2011-02-21 18:07
I knew I should have moved Na2. ahh well
Parent - By Weirwindle (***) [us] Date 2011-02-21 18:16
Everything along these lines hit 0.00. A few lines hit -0.15 but gradually equalized at 0.00 again.
The game is a draw. No doubt.
21. Na2 was not draw by repetition. If you had moved there I would have had a great game with 21... Bxh4.
Parent - - By Weirwindle (***) [us] Date 2011-02-21 18:19
20... a5 21. Na2 Bxh4 was the surprise that I was talking about. Until I found 21. g5 to give draw.
Parent - - By TheHug (Bronze) [us] Date 2011-02-21 18:21
Actually that is a pretty good surprise

I am very pleased to have surprised you for once Hug.

It is hilarious watching Stockfish trying to figure out what is so good about Bxh4 for the first 27 depth.
It knows how to go up by powers of two.

Yes the always optimistic Stockfish
Parent - - By OneSlyJoker (**) [us] Date 2011-02-21 18:26
yes, 21. g5 does draw. Im sure of it. Anyway even if one of us could garner a .15 advantage say, that would be insufficent at this stage of the game to turn the tides. I have many things to add to my chess book, annotations and theory. And I must say Tim, this game with you has been the highlight of my life these past few weeks. I know I was well ahead at one point, but clever as you are you were able to even things up from an inferior position and as black to boot. Congradulations are in order. Well played.

Sure thing. Good game Jordan. Do you wish to call it a draw now or continue?
I do have 3 tournaments to finish so I do not mind. Draw Offer

I accept the draw. Marvelously well played. How about some post game analysis? Our commentator thought 13. Rg1 was a mistake, I thought it was one of my stronger and more decisive moves. a5 was brilliant. Good job on finding that. i do know now that 11. a3 was not an error, just not as good as bxf6. My reasoning was I've already used a tempo moving the bishop back the previous turn, and letting my opponent have an exchange for something I've just paid a turn to save seems void of reason. Why let black play ...b5 and then exchange the bishop? It is a non sequitor still to me. Ra7 I thought was a mistake but is seems you had made deep long term plans around which did aid your threatening taking over a file dangerously close to my kingside, therefore affecting my king safety. I had thought controling the open file in the center would have made for strong continuations by me. i was somewhat suprised to see you on 16. ...Bxf6. I thought you would opt for the pawn capture. What are your thoughts based on what I did?
Parent - By Weirwindle (***) [us] Date 2011-02-21 20:52
Hug did not think 13. Rg1 was a mistake nor did I. We both would have opted for 11. Bxf6(I would hate being double pawned) due to the higher usage and win percentage.
An interesting statistic that I had on 11. a3 was its usage in CCRL games receiving a 27% win rate for white out of 15 games.
My purpose of 6... Nc6 was to get that queen side castle. That plus ... b5 have been giving me very good games lately. Plus it allows for queen advancement if I should need it.
I was the first out of most books with 12. Ra7 but it was showing good analysis vs g5(Rybka 4 book main move) plus 88% CCRL win rate.
I would have moved 13. Rg1 even though no books get into it. On move 12 I expected either Kb1(0-0-0 + Kb1 have been giving me good games as black) or Nf3.
Most of my analysis pointed to Kb1 as your next move. Option for it on 13, 14,  16(I sure would have done it), and move 17.
In main lines your Nb3 doesn't usually advance until you start your queenside advancement, and after pawn swaps.
Reason for 16... Bxf6: gx had horrible analysis and like I said before "I hate being double pawned."
I found a5 shortly after my Qb6 move. 20. Na2 and Qg2 were both draws so I set my time to studying 20. h4.
a5 was showing 0.80 in AI tree at first. Most(90%) of my positions were diving into ...Rd8 21. g5!!
Rybka does 3 positions in a5 and pulls out analysis of +0.40... 0.40 IDeA vs 0.80 IA... flags go off... you know how it is.
Good game,
Timothy
