Hi, I have downloaded the Nalimov TB from this site http://tablebase.sesse.net/ and I want to use them with Rybka 4. Once you have all of the bases together, the 100 GB files (4+2), how can you put them together? does anybody have an answer for this?
thank you
thank you
What do you mean with put together?
The parts (.0, .1, .2 etc) are ready to use, no need to concatenate them.

i think what he meant is making a folder for all the 4+2. for the purpose of having a directory for his egtb.
Just link to the folder as nalimov path in your GUI. you may want to tell us which GUI you are using if there are problems.
I am using Fritz 12 GUI. I want to use them to play in engine room of playchess.com; yes, I wanted to know how can you put the files together and make them work for rybka 4. Hopefully you guys understand me.

ok, it's easy. You need to put all those files in one folder. Then you go to the options and set the nalimov path to that one folder. You don't need to link to each file separately, the folder is enough. Can't tell you the exact option's name, since I don't use Fritz.
open fritz12. clik tools/options/tablebases. then browse for your egtb directory and put it to path 1. if you have more folders for egtb, use path2 and so on
Hi, guys thank you for the information; I have downloaded the 4+2 files of Nalimov bases and I did the following using Fritz 12: Make file in Hard Drive, Local Disc (C), Program Files (86), 1file containing all 107 GB of TB's. Then I went to Fritz 12>Options>Tablebases GUI>Path 1>Browse>Local Disk (C)>Program Files>click on TB 1>OK (the file containing the 4+2 Tablebases)>click Apply>Cache 8 MB>OK. Then after this I play a few games, but it does not work at all. I have tried over and ver to make them work, but no luck. In one of the games it showed tb=1 tb=2 tb=3 tb=4. I hope I am doing it right. Thanks again for the help guys, if any help you could give me, I thank you a lot.
Howdy, I think you have gotten proper advise. Try this. Reboot your computer
and set up for example KbnK. you should see tb's working.

I did, but still looks like something is not right. Maybe I am not doing it correctly. Perhaps there is a different way to install them?
Do you have the 3-4-5 tablebases? Did you ever install the 3-4-5 tablebases? Did you test the 3-4-5 tablebases?
yes, yes & yes

Yes, I had the 3-4-5 TB before, and after getting these new tb, the 4+2, I uninstalled the 3-4-5 tb. But after several tries, I could not make the 4+2 tb work. A couple of days ago, I reinstalled the 3-4-5 tb and everything worked perfectly. But once I put the 4+2 tb to work, the problem starts once again. Do you have any advise? Thank you guys
You need both 3-4-5 tablebases together with the 4+2 tablebases. You cannot expect 4+2 to work alone without the 3-4-5 tablebases. It won't work unless the 3-4-5 tablebases are present.
Thank you Erudito, there is any hint, any way to find out that the 4+2 is working once I put both to work?
so you have to put them in a single file to make them work? I have both in a single file and seems to work fine. But, how to do you know they are both working well, is there any way to find out, that both are working together? What if what I see is only the 3-4-5 tb's working alone. The file now is 114 GB. Accoring to the instructions from the cd 3-4-5 tb's (the one that I had before), you had to put 5 mb of cache. But now that the file is larger, how many mb of cache does it needs when load when game starts? do you know? thank you for the help

Maybe some (or just one) of your 4+2 are (is) damaged, there are programs that check tablebase integrity.
thank you tano-urayoan, how can you check that? do you know which program?

Wilhelm (by Rafael Andrist) is very useful..., but its "latest" download link
