> Possibly we can write this script to show how the Aqscripter may work.
Well if you have time, I think that would be a great example. It is possible that Dadi may have some experience here or done this already as we did some analysis on CCRL book exits in the Rybka 4 beta testing timeframe.
> In what form do you want to see the results?
Not sure what options are available to aqscripter output. My own program creates pgn files in a directory with both the eval and book exit number in the filename, separated into "white" and "black" directories. So like 0.70-20.pgn .. the key is that these can be easily sorted. I guess anything that can be sorted is the desired output, the book maker is looking for someone who stays in book longer than his opponent and comes out with a good book exit evaluation. Or even stays in book all the way to the end of the game and wins.
Also, I have to say that adding and changing engines on the fly is really useful with 4.0.6, I tested this feature both in IDeA and in engines doing IA. Feels very solid.
There is a draft script. But it is much larger than I expected. For providing more functionality there is need to have more specific goals to prevent wasting time for unessential features.
What Aquarium version you had before and what folders you specified during installation?
During installation it asked me for a personal data folder. Since I did not have one before I specified an empty folder. How can I correct that?
Analyzed a position in the sandbox with the newly released Critter 0.9 and noticed that I could add multiple lines at once to the notation pane. In the next 36 hours I added 2 more positions to analyze and after that time I decided it was time to save the notation from the sandbox into a newly created database. At that point I started to get access violations constantly and I was not able to save the analysis. The analysis wasn't even there anymore in the sandbox. All the analysis vanished before I could save it. A few more repeating access violations before I had to end the Aquarium task the hard way. I was a bit worried about the long delay after the initial announcement. Usually software is stable before you add new functions and if you add a lot of new functionality this more often than not leads to many many bugs. In my opinion this software is FAR from release worthy. I will stick with the old version until there are no longer access violations. I have experienced too much loss of hard analysis with buggy software. New functionality isn't worth anything when data integrity is compromised. I don't want to be a beta tester, just a user.
Also not sure what the Game Index option does in the database : it just locked Aquarium for 3 or 4 minutes !
> Not sure if I've missed something, but I cannot access the scripter. I can browse the available ones, but the show/hide button does nothing....as ( seemingly ) does the run button.
> Also not sure what the Game Index option does in the database : it just locked Aquarium for 3 or 4 minutes
Do you mean Opening Index? It classifies a game according to ECO.
The scripter issue I still cannot get around
> The scripter issue I still cannot get around
Switch to Scripter tab, click Show/Hide so it's active, activate window as Victor has shown.
Is this downloader still working or should I only keep an eye on the forums from now on to check for a new release? Now I downloaded this file from here, but somehow I think I shouldn't do that.
If you want the latest version, this forum is the best place I think.
> there will be an official 4.0.6 :)
Now we have various versions of 4.0.6 with different build numbers!
Next we will have same build numbers but different md5 files for the exe.
I have annotated the move 12. ..Sgf6, but it will not be displayed in the tree.
Why do you comment in english, but use german notation? I mean Sgf6 is Ngf6 in english.
I know I have the same problems from time to time, reading dutch and english notation, I could imagine you changed the comments to english just because you wanted to make this screenshot, but it just reads kind of strange this way.
I hope that he doesn't need to go through all his analysis to change these names, after I brought this up...... oow boy, somehow I can always find a way to get people to hate me.
>>Why do you comment in english?
These comments are imported from the Chessbase Mega-Database.
S=Springer (in german) (=knight ). I forgott to change the notation.
Anyway, maybe you did write down the serial, but made a mistake somewhere or something.
Anyway, since software vendors always say to write down the serial number, I think alot of people do this and that might have been the problem that he is having and also that you don't get a serial number sent by email after your purchase.
And yes, if you write to firstname.lastname@example.org they will help you further, eventually I will do that myself with the serial of rybka4 opening book, but the thing is, right now I have it installed allready, so don't need the serial number at the moment.
Just thought it was sad that nobody offered any help after a couple of days, so I was curious if his problem was solved by now.
