Hi all,

I am a new follower of correspondence chess. How do I go about arranging a game with you fellas here? =)

Many thanks,
Steve.
Parent - - By Christian Packi (****) [de] Date 2010-11-19 12:25
Just make a new threat and ask for a game at your conditions, e.g. who's white, what time control if any, normal game or thematic game etc.

When someone accepts change the title of the threat to player1 vs. player2.

Welcome and have fun!

Thanks Christian.

I maybe interested in playing a 3rd game. What side would you want to play on first?
Parent - By supersteve3d (**) [sg] Date 2010-11-19 12:40 Edited 2010-11-19 12:46
Hi TheHug. =)

Thanks for accepting. I am easy playing white or black..
In the interest of saving time, I'll jump right in..
Parent - - By supersteve3d (**) [sg] Date 2010-11-19 12:29
Ok. Anyone want to teach the newbie a lesson? =)

I'm ok playing white or black.  .. at least 1 more per day min... although its just a guideline. =)

Cheers,
Steve.

Good luck to you as well! I hope you enjoy watching the other CC players on the forum. If you are around next year. There is going to be a strong tournament to watch then. WBCCC

I hope to be around for many years to come. =) I've been interested in computer chess for a long long time. But I'm pretty new to CC.

I've enjoyed this forum for a long time now. I was happy to know that so many of the players wanted to play in the tournament. Can't wait to until then!

Cambridge Springs is back in fashion.

What game is that Christian? =)
Parent - - By Christian Packi (****) [de] Date 2010-11-19 13:24
It's this game I played with Vytron.

http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforum/topic_show.pl?tid=19023;pg=1

The position failed low a dozen moves after h6.

Going to stop here for now. I want to look at this and it is getting late for me. I'll post in a few hours
Parent - - By supersteve3d (**) [sg] Date 2010-11-19 13:32
No worries.. I'd rather slow down to get to the truth of any position.
Problem is... I have like 40 games running in parallel. =)

What time is it where you're at? its 9.30pm here..
Parent - - By TheHug (Bronze) [us] Date 2010-11-19 13:40
To be honest its 7:40 am
Parent - By supersteve3d (**) [sg] Date 2010-11-19 13:41
wow..

EDIT: I just noticed there are flags in the titles. :red:
Parent - - By TheHug (Bronze) [us] Date 2010-11-19 13:43
But I do have things to do. And I didn't get much sleep. I'll post in maybe 3 or 4 hours. Probably just start doing 1 or 2 moves a day form here on out. I haven't play this line very many times. I usually do something a little more dynamic like the King's Indian, but I don't know how you like to play
Parent - - By supersteve3d (**) [sg] Date 2010-11-19 13:45
To be honest.. I keep losing in the KID as white. Horizon problems for the engines IMO.
Parent - - By TheHug (Bronze) [us] Date 2010-11-19 13:48
I usually prefer a CC book over a book that has a lot of blitz games. That helps some of the problems. But if you are not familiar with the plans for both sides you can get into trouble. Its not meant for the light hearted.
Parent - - By supersteve3d (**) [sg] Date 2010-11-19 13:53
Hmmm... problem is I do NOT use any book. Rather my book is home made from about 3 years of work.
.. but this is a discussion for another day.

I read that you're a poker player. So it might be prudent to suspect that *some* conditionals are intended to skip over potential land mines for the side offering them. =)

Unfortunately, I see no advantage for white to deviate... so I accept (both conditionals). =)

On move 10, I didn't see anything better than taking the knight and move 11, the other move is taking with bishop. My book has both as only replies. Personally I do it to speed up the games some. I usually only do it, if I know for sure those are the only playable moves.
