Hi Lukas,

Any chance of posting the results of the blitz games in Japan?

Jonny in sole lead after beating rondo this round
Parent - - By suj (***) Date 2010-09-29 11:10
round 1 rybka got dc with mate score vs rondo and rondo won.
Parent - - By Uri Blass (*****) [il] Date 2010-09-29 11:25
what do you mean by dc?

I do not understand if the mate score meant winning for rybka when rybka simply crashed or lost on time or winning for Rondo.

disconnected-cluster crashed dont know what happened.Yes rybka was winning and it was a mate in 12 when this happened.Time left on clock was 46 seconds not enough time for Hans to load a local rybka or for the cluster to come back online.

Like father Like Son !!. Rondo as Zappa still sucks in Blitz games ????

No, sorry. We are having lots of technical problems.
Parent - - By Lukas Cimiotti (Bronze) [de] Date 2010-09-29 13:04
We had some problems - the worst was: the cluster sent moves correctly, but got no new instruction from the GUI. Then it got worse, Hans couldn't even load the cluster. He had to play partially with his laptop allone. Now it looks like things work again - but we didn't find out what caused this.
The good news is - we still have chances to win.

Incredibly, but these problems always pop up during the blitz event. So far we didn't have one blitz WC that ran smoothly.... Well, better have problems here, than in the main WCCC event!

Well - but we won despite all these problems. Next we'll try to fix things.

Great! So Rybka won the blitz tourney? Do you have the games?
Parent - By Lukas Cimiotti (Bronze) [de] Date 2010-09-29 15:00
I have the games only in the logfiles - and I don't have all and I'm far too tired to extract them from the logs. I hope Hans will send them - but he told me he's also very tired.
Parent - By Venator (Silver) [nl] Date 2010-09-29 15:06
I asked Hans if he can send the games by mail. He promised me to do this, although it is already quite late in Japan a.t.m. As soon as I have the games, I will post them.

Phew! So the lost game against Rondo was the only one?

CG Rybka team
Parent - - By Lukas Cimiotti (Bronze) [de] Date 2010-09-29 14:36
exactly - all others were won
Parent - - By Venator (Silver) [nl] Date 2010-09-29 15:05
Good! Congrats to the Rybka team! Well done

Thanks.
Hans did a great job. Handling all these problems while transferring moves is pretty tough. I never encountered so many problems in such a short period of time.
In the end it's the result that counts. And I can't complain about it

hehe :) I guess it also feels better if you get such a result in a dramatic situation with lots of trouble :)

> Well - but we won despite all these problems.

Congrats Lukas

which GUI do you guys use? in which format is the opening book?

btw., congrats to you and Hans for winning the blitz tournament, it's something that really requires operator and problem solving skills :) (and luck of course ;) )
Parent - - By Lukas Cimiotti (Bronze) [de] Date 2010-09-29 14:35
Hans is using Fritz GUI.
For blitz we used a ctg book, in the main event we use Aquarium books.
Parent - By Felix Kling (Gold) [de] Date 2010-09-29 14:59
right, for blitz it may have been not so bright to have the book adapter, would be a bit complicated :)

so was the dc/crash rybka cluster's only loss to date? regardless 8 wins out of 9 in any circumstances is awesome. given just how many draws there are at high end chess it's incredible that rybka managed to find winning positions in all 9 of its games.
