Goodmorning everybody,

I understand Rybka has won her first game in the WCCC in Japan and is now playing Thinker in the second round (Hans told me '+0.46 after 27 moves'). Any possibility to have the moves of the games here at the forum? I see there is no broadcast at Playchess, so ICGA is once again not interested in live coverage

No live moves. No good looking women. This tournament is really shit!!!

How true! We know the ICGA sucks in live coverage, but when nice Japanese women are also missing, I quit!

On the bright side: we have $ 1297 gold and $ 21.46 silver

Rybka - Thinker  +0.59 after 32 moves.

Thanks for the updates. It looks like only two rounds are played today.

It's amazing how the ICGA management (David Levy & Co) manages to run this organisation year after year in the same middle age fashion. ICGA applies lots of poor policies. Many of the chess programmers don't seem to be in favour how ICGA is run or managed. Still same management is running this organisation year after year. Can we not ask UN to send some soldiers to capture some culprits?

At least ICGA can't say they do this wonderful job because of the love they feel from "fans and colleagues", obviously they have some other motivations.

ICGA manages to book these events for (7-8 days, silly!) where they request "Excursion day" from the organisers, but they can’t request live games. And most often these tournaments are hosted in all sorts of Advanced Institutes/universities and what not.

Nowadays even the Mickey Mouse human tournaments have live broadcasts, while this COMPUTER related organisation never manages to make sure that the organisers have live games.  And don’t blame it on the organisers ICGA!

I totally agree. What the ICGA is doing regarding the WCCC has been a total sham. Year after year. A complete disrespect for the members, the chess fans and the PR for computer chess (and the sponsors!) in general. I see a few possibilities to change this:

1. The programmers demand live coverage, otherwise they will not participate.
2. The sponsor demands live coverage and maximum PR efforts of the ICGA in return for sponsor money.
3. The rules have to be changed in such a way that live coverage is part of the tournament and should be taken care of by the ICGA.

As a sponsor I would NEVER give money to such an event, that disregards maximum exposure and does nothing to give back value for my money.

Does the ICGA bring anything of value to the table other than WCCC naming rights?

well, they organize things like playing hall and so on. iirc they even had live comments on the games in pamplona - although it was in spanish :) - from GM Garcia.
