I was just wondering while playing some computer games on playchess why an engine is idle during book opening. Wouldn't it be better to have the engine analyze from the start so that once out of book a var/hash is built?

Guess this is a GUI issue?

Yes.

Yes.

I think the Aquarium Book Adapter allows the engine to think while in book, to do what you want.
