Who is running Rybka and what is the hardware/book?

Hi,

Vas is running Rybka on his qx6700 quad I think.

I don't understand blacks idea behind the opening it played, to me it seems a loosing line and Hiarcs finished it nicely.

Games from now on run on a 2x Xeon X5365 ( 8 x 3 GHz ) with 8 gb of ram.
Sadly i was not at home when Vas asked me to use my computer.

regards
Lukas

Ok - at least we have our excuse now if Rybka finishes above us. It was nice to be both using a QX600 ;-)

Your chances have grown again ;)
Due to a disconnect Vas had to switch to my backup computer - the one that WCCC ran on.
Its a 2x Xeon X5355 - 8x 2.66 GHz with 4 gb of ram.

Btw. will there be a Hiarcs version that supports 8 cores?

Hi Harvey,

you have my permission to enjoy this -- until the next Leiden. :)

Seriously, I'll try not to make any lame excuses, it was an interesting game and Hiarcs played well. Good luck today.

I see now Hiarcs is tied with Rybka with a score of 7/8. And 14 games will be played in total.

>Time control is 28+1

I guess that means 28 minutes for the whole game, plus 1 second increment per move, right? Or is it 1 minute increment per move?

Although 28 minutes is a perfectly fine number, do you have any idea why it has been chosen? Since it's not one of the "common" numbers they usually choose, like 40,60,90,15 etc....

Hi George,

Yes it is 28(minutes for the game) + 1 second per move increment. I have no idea why they chose 28!?

Best Wishes,

Harvey

It looked like black was playing as a centaur. I'm not sure this is advisable in a 28 minutes and 1 second increment event. If this was the freestyle with 60 minutes plus 15 seconds increments then that "could be gotten away with". Nevertheless good luck to all the participants.

Black was not playing as a Centaur. This is an engine only tournament.

Looking at the two large changes in evaluation, why 25 ..Nb2 and 30 ..Nd3?  Perhaps I am not searching far enough, but my version of Rybka disagrees with these moves completely.
