I'm curious if anyone has made a serious attempt to play a multi-tool opening in the engine room?  By multi-tool I'm referring to a pattern-based opening (i.e. no theory) that can be played against anything (e.g. the Hippo Defense.)  Multi-tool openings seem especially well suited to the self-reinforcing environment of the engine room.  Instead of trying to keep up with the latest improvements in a wide variety of openings, the bookmaker instead gets to focus his attention and effort on improving a specific system that's universally played.  In other words, a single improvement in a multi-tool opening has the potential to improve results in many games instead of the occasional game.
