in chessbase10 you have a button to launch the default engine (Rybka)
normally I use only 3 cores and every time i launch rybka i have to adjust the settings from 2048 cores to 3 cores
is there a way to save these settings so that they are used automatically with one mouse click on the default engine button?
Thanks,
Arno

One way is to create a new UCI engine from the Engine Menu, making sure to hit the parameter button and make any changes you need (3 cores in your case). Once you return to the main create UCI menu,
change the name of the engine by adding something unique to the end of the name, like 3core. Then go to the CB10 tools/options/engines and change the default engine to the one you just created.

PS. I have seen other posts from people who claim you have to copy the Rybka engine exe to a new folder to do this. This is not correct. You can create as many UCI engines you want, all pointing to the same Rybka exe file, and each UCI engine can have its own set of Rybka parameters.

This sounds like the message you get when you forget to change the name of the engine after making changes to the Rybka engine parameters ??

For example on my system :

1) start the create UCI engine process
2) if not already present, browse to the location of the engine exe  for example Deep Rybka 4 SSE42 x64
that becomes the name of the new UCI engine
3) click on the parameter button and make changes to the Rybka engine (max CPUs =3 in your case) . Click on OK and you should return to the create UCI engine window
4) in the name field add something to the end of the name for example add the characters 3core so that the new name is  Deep Rybka SSe42 x64 3core
5) click OK and then go back and change the default engine
