I have not been able to find the installation instructions for Deep Rybka 4 Aquarium on a computer which already has R3?

Do you install R4 over R3's folder?
  Do you first uninstall R3?
How do you retain the databases and settings (configuration) of R3?

                         Thanks, CMA

It does not matter where you install any UCI engine, as long as the GUI is given the correct path to it.

Hi Gordon, thanks. I was not asking about the engine, which is part of Aquarium.
I was asking how to install the entire program. I haven't found any instructions on that.
Do you know where the installation instructions are?

Why delete R3; Aquarium 2010 (aka Deep Rybka Aquarium) uses a different directory on HD compared to Aquarium 3.x; keep R3, it is a UCI-engine, install Deep Rybka 4 Aquarium in an other directory and show it in "Engines" with "Add" the path to R3 UCI, no problem so far... and as result, you are able to use R4 and/or R3 for analysis, IdeA or Engine-Tournament.

Max, thanks for the very helpful advice. I don't care about R3 engine. So your idea is to simply install R4 in a completely separate folder. But then how does one retrieve one's databases and install into R4?
  Same question for configuration settings?

in Aquarium 3 the databases are located in ..Aquarium\abases and tree under ..Aquarium\atrees by default;
the standard bases like hugebase are updated in Aquarium 2010, so they shouldn´t need to be copied. If your own databases and trees are stored in the default folders, simply copy them to the new ..Aquariumdata\Abases or \ATrees (default); otherwise the .cdp, .hsh and so on could easily find by windows search and be copied in the new folders, or if you keep Aquarium 3, open them from within Aquarium 2010.
I use it that way and have no problems.

Hi Max:
I understand now how to move the databases. But as for "trees", I found in the R3 \Atrees\ the following: \JeroenTrees\ ;  and various .elm and .hsh files. I assume you mean to copy those over to R4?

yes. complete folder; but i remember some difficulties with Jeroen book installer, maybe there´s no problem if only copied.

When I click on the down arrow in the Trees pane to load a new tree, Jeroen's book/tree does not show up. So I guess the copying method for Jeroen book does not work.
Is there another method of reinstalling Jeroen's book?

that´s ok.; Jeroen tree exists but is not installed by copying. You have to use "Options" in the tree menu and create a new tree, may be named "Jeroen book" and make configuration ...(for eyample by repeating the configuration shown in Aquarium 3), same for other trees
otherwise simply install it from the original CD/downloaded file
