Fritz 11. Can't figure out why it does that.

Fritz 11

I have a silly question!

Rybka 4 has max cpus at 2048.  Since I only have a 2 cpu machine do I need to tell Rybka that or does she sense it on her own?

Thanks!

It will use the number of available cores, so no need to change anything.

I look forward to entreating you, earnestly, for a future update! :-)

P.S.

I don't think this forum should be lulled so easily  into submissive acquiescence in not pursuing what might be a much needed up-date sometime down the line.
Parent - - By yanquis1972 (****) [us] Date 2010-05-25 14:11
i think it's pretty clear the update will be cloud rybka until rybka 5...
Parent - - By RFK (Gold) Date 2010-05-25 14:27 Edited 2010-05-25 14:29
I won't settle for that! I would not acquiesce until R4 has had a run-and go from there. But keeping the idea of an update out front is not unthinkable. If problems arise! This version was rushed through so quickly and thing is possible.
Parent - - By Nelson Hernandez (Gold) [us] Date 2010-05-25 22:41
You won't settle?  Then I guess you had been take it up with the courts.  Vas laid out his strategy months ago and you're still objecting now?  Like it or don't like it, that's your choice.
Parent - By RFK (Gold) Date 2010-05-25 22:44 Edited 2010-05-25 22:50
LOL

I don't give up that easily! There is nothing to lose and an update to gain!

Sid - we haven't even released yet and you already want an update? :)

And now Vas maybe you can relax for a minute and make yourself ready to enjoy Donovan McNabb!  While I have to settle for another year of the Andy "I will pass till I drop" Reid!  :)
Parent - - By Vasik Rajlich (Silver) [pl] Date 2010-05-27 02:36
You know, I still have this feeling that Campbell is better than people realize. But McNabb will do just fine! :)

Reid better hope Kolb is good.

Vas
Parent - - By tomgdrums (****) Date 2010-05-27 02:42
Yeah it is too bad that Campbell never got a shot with Shanahan as his coach.  But it might be good for Donovan to have a coach like Shanahan who knows how to put a running game together.

But my Phillies are doing fine and the Flyers!!  Could Philly be hoisting the Stanley Cup?!?!?
Parent - - By Vasik Rajlich (Silver) [pl] Date 2010-05-27 03:06
Yup. Evaluating QBs is so hard, even for veterans. McNabb is either a great playmaker who knows how to protect the ball, or a product of Reid's system. I am really looking forward to this year.

Also: I wouldn't write the Eagles off.

Count me in if we ever start a Rybka Forum fantasy football league. If your interested I can host a league on CBSsports.com and invite up to 12 people to play. I normally play in money leagues but this is negotiable if your interested.

1) hyper threading on/off for R4?
2) hash file.....C:\Hash.rsh...yes/no
Parent - - By Lukas Cimiotti (Bronze) [de] Date 2010-05-27 13:55
Hyperthreading should be off.
You don't need a hash file for playing games. It's only for saving an analysis.

The ChessOK site says R4 will be released today. Has it or will it?
Parent - - By Vasik Rajlich (Silver) [pl] Date 2010-05-27 02:37
Yes (AFAIK).

Ok, I bought everything for R4, but I would really prefer to use the Fritz 11 UCI that came with my Deep Rybka 3. Can I open the Rybka 4 engine with the Deep Rybka 3 UCI? Or, can I buy the Fritz 11 UCI, or can I buy the Fritz 12 UCI and install the R4 engine?

I want to use R4 with the Fritz 11 or 12 UCI.
Parent - By Vasik Rajlich (Silver) [pl] Date 2010-05-27 03:06
You can use Rybka 4 in just about any Graphical User Interface.

Vas,

That's not fair! You're turning the tables on me-

Now, should some unforeseeable performance bug surface, like an oil-slick on this competitive chess engine cyber sea- I would like to be comforted in knowing you will be their to calm those troubled waters with a needed bug fix update. Is that really too much to ask for?

Sorry - that was worse than adding crowns to the forum after you got five pawns. :)

If a real showstopper turns up, I'll fix it of course. Run-of-the-mill bugs will be addressed in Rybka 5.

I kind of figure that you would-thanks  for the commitment.

I am glad to hear that you still want to continue writing code for Rybka UCI!

Best Regards,

Robert

There are very high chances that R5 lacks BU.

Tell him you are super efficient and are therefor sending out the update ahead of the original release...

> Tell him you are super efficient and are therefor sending out the update ahead of the original release...

Oh! Please! That has nothing to do with it!  I'm asking for a commitment-a willingness to acknowledge-should a performance bug appear (this may never happen!everybody knows that most chess engines are developed completely bug performance free) he will be there for  his customers who "are"  buying R4.

If VR is sure that there is nothing to worry about- then he should show his confidence in making a commitment now for a promised update, if, God Forbid, it is needed!
Parent - - By Banned for Life (Gold) Date 2010-05-26 16:32
The normal way of doing business is to consider an update if a serious bug (i.e. debilitating) is found. For instance, if R4 crashed after a few hours. As far as missing features, or features that don't work as well as we would like, you can get all the information you need before you put your money down, understanding there will be no updates. Since there is a clear policy on this before the sale, I don't think you can really complain (well, you can always complain :-) ).
Parent - - By RFK (Gold) Date 2010-05-26 16:42
Okay! Maybe I'm being impetuous-would you put R3 under the same conditional requirements  you are laying out now?
Parent - By Banned for Life (Gold) Date 2010-05-26 18:43
Yes! Except that Vas eventually caved in to pressure and said there would be an R3+. Major mistake! He couldn't fit this into his schedule and suffered a black eye as a result. I doubt he will make the same mistake twice...

Asking for an update the normal way (after the release) didn't work for Rybka 3; so I give Sidserious credit for trying something different. :-)

Sometime ago I once watched a movie called 'god of gamblers', now in Vas I see one :). Did you guys really test that thing properly? I just want to see the influx of "Rybka can't do this, Rybka can't do that" during the 1st month of it's release. I think the testing period was too short :(
Parent - - By RFK (Gold) Date 2010-05-25 14:31 Edited 2010-05-25 14:34
+1 (time for insuring an updated bug fix) R4 might be fine! But if it has problems, we need to get VR to commit now to a bug fix update. One has to be firm in pursuing this- Vas, can be as stubborn as hell!
Parent - - By oudheusa (*****) [nl] Date 2010-05-25 16:37
Step 1 would be to have Vas store the R4 code properly :)
Parent - By RFK (Gold) Date 2010-05-25 16:54
He had to have been in the companion of  Juanita to have lost R3's jewels.

Yes, but as Sidserious said, he can be stubborn :(. Maybe he should listen to this one for once. I don't underestimate Rybka 4's strength, but I doubt if it was properly tested.

Vas,

Good luck with the new release, I am looking forward to reading about the further exploits of my dear Rybka, what a sweet mind she has.  I also want to thank you for the great two years I had with Rybka 3 and representing on ICC.  I know the real endeavors of Rybka are to win World Championships and to dominate it's Chessbase and the super machines that show up there, some of those things are monsters and kudos to those who put in the time and money to battle on Chessbase's computer room.

TransWarp is still very somewhat active on ICC, playing an anonymous GM called Armcomposer some unrated blitz games during the World Championship Match.  Can't believe a GM would rather do that than watch the match!  You and Larry have been great, I'm sure as Rybka moves into the future, it's innovation and domination will be talked about for years.

William Martin, formerly TasCat...I missed the deadline by a few days and since all my records were wiped clean..saw no sense in renewing...it was bittersweet...but I had been distracted by personal health and a family emergency which is ongoing.  Needless to say, that emergency is much more important to me than my personal account on ICC.  TransWarp has til June 4 to renew...with a little leeway holding it's spot..I'll probably renew the account as they say that records for unofficial computer accounts, must be paid accounts...kind of got you by the short hairs on that one.  But TW will always be the comp that broke the blitz rating 4000 elo (ICC) level and did it with Deep Rybka 3 UCI and a lot of playing with personal books, some Grandmasters having developed a few ways to beat or draw...but with a slight change, usually didn't happen in the same line again thanks to the improvements done to Rybka 2.3.2, now that was a fun affair...

Take Care and Best Wishes!
