Using Fritz 12 GUI.

What is difference between  .bin books & .ctg books.  I am confused about what book is being used.

I notice in most UCI engine parameters, there is a book.bin & "Use own book" check box.  I have a .ctg book loaded
but notice that (for example) stockfish comes with it's own book.bin book in source.  Does this mean that stockfish is
using it's own book and not the .ctg book that I have loaded in fritz?

Do I need to uncheck the "use own book" in engine parameters to make the engine use the fritz book?

They're different book formats, like PNG and GIF for images.

The GUI uses the ctg book for the engine, so when both books are on, the ctg book will be used until it runs out of moves, and then the bin book will take over.

Where is the best place to put the Book.bin file?  Do I put it in the same Fritz folder that my other .ctg books are.

Or, do I put it in the engine <src> folder?

How can I force Stockfish to use only the book.bin book in the F12 gui?

To force Stockfish to use Book.bin, hit F4 in the Fritz GUI and deselect "Use Book" and "Use Tournament Book." Then go to the Stockfish UCI options and tick "OwnBook" and specify the name of the book.

The book should be in the same folder as the engine.
