Feel better Josias!! I hope you are OK!
Thank you Brandon, but it is a difficult recovery from surgery.
Haemorrhoids
I'm going to hell, I could only change a few lines of the book lying in bed because I can not sit.:-(((((

Let's see if Nelson makes it in on time.. :)
Getting close.. ~6 hours left before it's 28 March in Turkey.

I will surely hope Nelson is on tour...
It's not looking good unless Sedat makes an exception.
Somehow I goofed and made the book too large to be a legitimate entry. The odd thing is that a couple of weeks ago I was easily within limit, and since then I've only added truncated versions of several thousand games. I don't know what happened.
I'd be perfectly willing to enter and be disqualified from prize money if Sedat agreed to those terms, but otherwise there's no way I can reconstruct all the work I have done in a smaller book.

Doh. :( We'll see what he says, but I don't think it will be good.. He'd have to run the tournament, and then adjust the result so that every game your book played was not counted. Not to mention the daily standings would be off. :(
Maybe make a copy of the book and play around with the "prune tree" option? More than likely anything after 80 ply won't get played very often.. Though if someone suggested that to me, I'd probably cringe at the idea myself.. :)
Just out of curiosity, how far over the limit are you? I mean if you're at 518MB, I'd be ok with it, but if you're at 1.23GB that wouldn't be quite fair.
I actually back up my book daily now, whenever I make changes.. I've hit that "reset weight" option instead of "import games" so many times... They seriously need a confirmation dialog for that menu option.

286 MB zipped. Not good.
> zipped
WinRAR supports RAR, ARJ, LZH, TAR, GZ, ACE, UUE, BZ2, 7Z and Z. Try 7-Zip.
I don't have a prune tree option, by the way. Delete subtree is all I have, and I don't want to go there.
Sorry, the option is actually "weed tree". If you right click on your opening book while at the root of of the tree/book it should show up. But I don't blame you. :)
Whoa, a new functionality I didn't know about. Thanks, Brandon, this could make all the difference.
This approach is having very little influence on the size of the file. I have truncated the length of the lines but that reduced things very little. Apart from that I'm blind to the larger-scale impact of what I'm doing here. No, I think I'll stick with the original and see what the boss says.
I hear ya.. A little late to be introducing unknowns into the equation. Did you try upping the compression / different format as also suggested? Luckily Sedat's file size only applies to the compressed file, not the actual book size itself..
Happy news, Sedat has allowed me to fight with the extra weight. For the record, I think I could cut this down 50% with no loss of strength and I have tons of games in there I should not have included in an ECO I thought I would play but wound up completely avoiding.
Fantastic!! Not only do you get to participate, but I have a built-in excuse should you mercilessly thrash my book.. :)
I don't design books to mercilessly thrash other books. I build them to frustrate and annoy their authors.
But you can do all that. Good luck Nelson!, and good luck to all the contestants that decided to no longer be slaves of a single ECO code this time around!
So far the smallest size is Jagged Ice book, approx. 9MB and the biggest book size is Iconoclast II,which is approx.280MB
And i really wonder what will be the standings of these above books, let's see size limit influence,importance...

9 MB is just sick! I bet this book will perform like a ripped athlete.
This is my second time allowing a book size limit a little bit over than 200 mb,the first one as far as i remember it was Savelli book,appox.250 mb
In other words, very big book sizes which are over than 400-500 MB or 1 GB...are not allowed (the reason it will take many days for downloading them)
So,all games which will be played on the tournament will be counted

If the USA doesn't finish in the top 3 I am gonna have to get back in the mix of this :). Looking at the line-up I am fairly confident USA can get one book into respectable position. Nelson is an experienced vet with possibly the most insane database of games, I know Italian well and his books are always solid, Harris is a little new to me but I have heard from reliable sources that he is very talented, unfortunately I don't think I know of Sands but it would be nice to see another American do well in these book tournaments. I am also pulling for my old friends Sunny, Jean Disquin and Samosa to do well :).
good to see u bobby!!! :)

Thanks guys, I have made two new books but haven't polished them the way I like just yet. I moved my PC into my bedroom and so it's hard to leave it running overnight like I used to. To make really nice and strong books it takes a lot of work unless you are somebody like Kosmo who just has hundreds of people sending him games off playchess every month. I don't know if I want to get into bookmaking at the top level again but it is one hell of a very fun hobby to have so I will probably always keep a book up to date to mess around with on playchess :)
Iconoclast : One who attacks and seeks to overthrow traditional or popular ideas or institutions

Sedat, I saw two matches only as currently I am in office. One was against Iconoclas and another against Macedonia both time black and won both, but still long way to go.
Yes,sure...its too early to make any conclusions, but it seems your Yograj book will be a serious pretendant for the 1st place

Lots of See-Saw between Yograj and Attacker. Sick Panda also comming closer, now at third place. BTW, how many games complated till now?
By my count that's 19 entrants. How many rounds each? Looks like the only practical number is four:
18 opponents per book x 4 games = 72 games per book x 9.5 rounds = 684 games = four days of competition if there are no breaks at all
18 opponents per book x 4 games = 72 games per book x 9.5 rounds = 684 games = four days of competition if there are no breaks at all
Still not sure how many registrations will be in total,i will see...but i hope to finish the tourney in 2-3 days
Only chance for two days is two games against every opponent, then. Unless you want to do Swiss.
hi sedat,
will you start the tournament tomorrow morning or after midninght??
