The E6600 Intel is a pretty good dual core. Has high overclockability and is relatively cheap. On 64 bit OS, Rybka 2.3.2 gets around 320Kns overclocked to 3Ghz.

The Quad core Q6600 might be the best performing cpu for Rybka for the price.  I think it is (or will be very soon) priced at around $260 and you really cannot go wrong with that.  The new steppings should also overclock very well especially if it is mated with an Intel P35 chipset and some fast good quality memory.

I think that its better to wait for Barcelona in September. At least to see what is happening, maybe Intel reduce their prices as well. Two Opteron 2348 and a socket-f motherboard seems to be affordable.
