Please provide the date and the condition for the next tour so that book authors can start preparing accordingly. 3/0, 5/0, 16/0.
I liked the idea of like Live telecast but I know thats possible only for small time controls like 3/0 or 5/0 or even less.
Waiting for response
Firstly i'd like to thank you for your interest...
About the next tour's conditions,i hope to publish all this info in a few days
Very excited for the next tournament, but I imagine Sedat would like a break for a week to two.. :)
But anyway my feelings says about the next tourney, let's increase the time control,e.g 16 min and then i wonder which opening book will be the real Monster ;-)?!
That would be ~25-30 minutes per game (assuming not all 16 minutes was used).. Let's say 25 minutes.. If you had 10 participants (and you probably will have more than 10!), and 20 rounds, that's 900 games for a round-robin. That's ~16 days, not including letting your computer rest.
How about something unorthodox and new.. Maybe 6+2? I like the idea of adding time increments, as it rewards the book who has the longest opening (which usually means the most research). A 6+2 game with 100 moves (200 ply) ~12.5 minutes per game..
I still prefer 3+0 / 5+0 since that's the majority of games on Playchess, but I'm certainly open to new ideas!
(Note:we can use also QX9650@3.80GHz which is slightly slower than i7 email@example.comGHz)
In other words, the next SCCT book tour should be finished max in 2-3 days (i am feeling too tired in case of running 6-7 days in LIVE)
But if the mostly of the authors are against 16min,its ok we can run the next tourney at 3 min or 5 min,no problem...
If you use the QX9650 do you have another PC for the webcam?
(Note:normally that will not be possible to use 2nd camera, due to i use one same monitor for both 2 pc (QX6700+QX9650)
Btw,to run both pc in LIVE,then i need to buy 1 extra monitor + 1 extra camera and then we will be able to watch the games in LIVE
But not recommended to use 2 cameras ,the reason my pc room will be look like a security room and there will be a possibility my wife to leave me out :)
>Of course I'll still participate if it's 16+0, but I'd have to start a new book for that
It's not as big of a gap as you might think. I won one of Sedat's 16min tournaments with a book that was designed pretty much identically to a 3-5min book.
I believe there is merit in extensive head-to-head competition. I was thinking 8 or 10 games between each book in a round-robin instead of 20, and a time control of 5+1 or 7 or 8 minutes.
The key idea here is that this is a BOOK tournament, not an engine tournament. In other words, what matters more than anything are 1) the book-exits each book achieves and 2) the relative time advantage each book achieves. If you have long time controls then the outcome is much more influenced by engine analysis later in the game when both players are out of books, and it kind of defeats the whole idea of this being a book tournament. (Though, of course, if everyone plays B90 again then Adriean will chop the field into little bits regardless!)
Do you have a general idea of when the next SCCT will be? 1-2 weeks, 1 month, etc..? I'm just curious. :)
1º) book 3/0
2º) book 16/0
> I agree, but I think the ideas was for two separate tournaments.. A 3+0 and 16+0, so the two would never meet in competition
One prized and another free. What do you think?
I have just finished creating a new book called "Sick Panda". In this book I only imported my own games (around 8500) played on Playchess since 2009 (only wins when I had white, and only draws and 0-1 when I had black) and did a little manual tuning.
Like Nelson, I like to experiment, I want to see how such a book (it's a "bad copy" of my manual book, "Sikanda") would do.
I wish I could find the strenght in myself to lie at least sometimes, as I know that would give me many advantages, but I just can't find that skill in me. Maybe I lie without being aware of that, if you have that feeling about me. In this case I am happy, as I get advantages then without even knowing it! Or maybe it's because people think I bluff?
