Hi, I'm new to this forum, although I have been following computer chess for the last 25 years, and I recently purchased Rybka 2.3.2a and I am using Arena 1.99beta3 as the GUI. I have had no problems with the superb program or the GUI at all except for one thing. When I set it to "Mate Search" mode, and set it to "Mate in 3" and set up chess problems, it often just finds the first mate it "sees", which is often a Mate in 4 or 5. Is there any way to make Rybka a "proper" chess problem solver, or should I look elsewhere for that? It isn't a big deal, just wondering though.

Although Rybka is certainly the strongest chess engine today, it never was (or is)
a "proper" problem solver (i.e. for solving mate problems).
For that purpose there´s only one serious program - ChestUCI. ;-)
Get it here:
And BTW, forget this buggy Arena 1.99-Beta, use the last full version 1.1 instead!
