Rybka crashes, if Hash is set >=256MB under Win98!

That isn´t a Rybka problem, but a Win98 problem.

That´s nonsense of course!

Win98 can use upto 512MB (with tricks even 768MB) RAM.
It´s just a thing of using the right WinAPI functions -
I´ve done this in Chest (included in my ChestUCI) successfully,
and it can use 512MB hash under Win98 without any problems.

Win98 is really a 16-bit OS that runs on top of DOS. I'm actually impressed that Rybka runs on it at all...

No, Win98 is mostly 32 bit, even W95 was 32 bit. Both ran on DOS, as Windows ME did, too.

Win95, Win98, and Win ME all use the DOS memory model. How much testing do you think this got? My guess is zero...

Yes, i think that is the reason, why 256 mb of hash don´t work. But still W95 and W98 were the beginnings of 32 bit computing (Windows only) with a lot of limitations.
Amiga did 32 bit computing many years before, but that´s a different story.

AFAIK Amiga was a 16bit machine. Archimedes was 32bit...

No, Amiga had a 32 bit processor running on a 16 bit bus. ADDQL for example was the assembly language command for a 32 bit addition. Yes - i wrote programs for that machine in assembly language a long time ago.

Impressed that a 32bit console application runs under Win98???

You don´t seem to have a big understanding of computers or programming ...
