Many replies to customer queries have the mysterious TBD response.
One lately was "What happened to Rybka 3+ ?

Searched the web for "TBD Acronyms"
So which one applies?

To Be Determined
To Be Defined
To Be Decided
To Be Done
To Be Developed
To Be Discussed
To Be Destroyed
Ten Business Days
To Be Detailed
To Be Discontinued
Tibetan Book of the Dead (song)
To be Demanded
Totally Brain Dead
Terminal Bomber Defense
The Boomer Destination
Teddy Bear Dreams (television show)

Oh, TIAOTLS !

This is all on the lighter side.

Parent - By Fulcrum2000 (****) [nl] Date 2009-12-01 16:44
In Vas case I guess we can add that one also ;-)

This is Vas being pessimistic:

☺ TBD is the "Tell By Date" It means: When you suggested this, the idea was already being cloned. Sorry, try something else...

Vas being mysterious:

☺ TBD also means "Tell By Date", but now there is an automatic script that replaces the TBD at certain dates in the future by a Leaked Pre Announcement of what version of Rybka will have this feature. This assures people keep re-reading Vas statements over and over again until everybody gets the message that they want to hear.

This is Vas being optimistic:

☺ TBD means: "To Be Done!" as Howard already suggested above.
☺   "       "     : "To Be Designed!"
☺   "       "     : "Two Bloody Days" of work!
☺   "       "     : "Translates to Billions of Dollars!"

To Be Delayed

Just when it is about to be released

> To Be Delayed

Vas used to say "soon" a lot. Now he's saying TBD a lot.

In the former case, he always meant "To Be Delayed". You're probably right.

I agree, it means "To Be Dalayed" and he should add "Sooooon"!

Here is a less boring discussion coming out of  Talkchess:

also:

wiki-

" Internals
Rybka has been accused of being based on Fruit, but Rajlich has denied this categorically.[15] Further allegations of violating the GPL have been brought forward by chess progammer Zach Wegner based on a new decompilation effort and a one year study of the Rybka 1.0 executable. Vas has since declined to respond to these allegations.[1"

> Rybka uses a bitboard representation

There never was anything to reveal, what with the large 32-bit slowdown.

> and is an alpha-beta searcher

Well, duh.

> with a relatively large aspiration window.[12]

Outdated.

Vempele,

You should incorporate your argument on Talkchess- I'd like to see the response. Whoops, I spoke too soon!

>Rybka has been accused of being based on Fruit, but Rajlich has denied this categorically.[15]

No, Rybka was accused of using "code" from Fruit, which VR denied.
Parent - - By Michael Hart (***) Date 2009-12-02 20:26 Edited 2009-12-02 20:37
Contextually, there is little difference is using code, or using the code as a base.

Osipov's translation read something like: "he has taken Fruit as a basis, rewrote it to bitboard and included tables of material imbalance of Kaufman."
Which is, coincidentally or not, the same thing Zach Wegner has alleged.

A rather good example of TBD if there was one:

This has been my point here all along-

Maybe there is some notification that you have turned off or missed, because you should have received a notification of a reply to your post.

Vas,

You need to put this thing to rest! You really do! It's snow balling out there and you are crazy to ignore it. If this whole thing is ridiculous then you are only doing more damage to yourself by hermetically isolating your venture from all this looks weird stuff on the forum. It's like you're acting as if the Sofia is on fire while the house is burning down.

I looked at Rybka backwards in a hex editor and found the phrase "Paul is dead"...
Parent - - By Henrik Dinesen (***) [dk] Date 2009-12-04 09:55
What would that be in italian ? ;)
Parent - By Banned for Life (Gold) Date 2009-12-04 23:59
I'm not sure what it would be in Italian, but in Italian-American it would be "Paul sleeps with the fishes". :-)
- By Omega-three (**) Date 2009-12-06 12:12
How about 'Trial By Disassembler' :-)
