Can anyone tell me where can I get a better book for Rybka 3? I use the default one, but look what happens: sometimes before mid-game Rybka is 1 pawn behind and all she can do is draw the game. It happened many times to play like this and not only to me. The first 6 to 11 moves are made clearly from the book because there's no CPU activity and they are made instantly. But after that, even with a depth of 20 for each move, Rybka happen to stay behind a little and many games end as draws.
What can I do to make Rybka stronger in this situation?

Against what opposition?

There are a number of pretty strong .ctg books available nowadays for free.  Sedat's rating list (the opening book one, not the Playchess one) is a reasonable place to find out what is currently playing strongly against other competing books.  Many of those books can be downloaded, just look around.

Well, these books might not be as good as it seems. I tried one of them for an engines match - and only B90 Najdorf was played :(

Say no more.  Those who create such books don't want to hear any criticisms.

That's why I didn't tell the name of that book ;)
Just to hurt nobody's feelings.

I guess these books are only good for short time controls like blitz for example. And with more time better moves are to be found.
I mean i see MyBook is one of the strongest books and yet updates to it are been made every week or so. This can't be done if you analyze moves very deeply until the endgame for example.

An even more evidence to support the previous thing i've said is that these books are mostly based on blitz games and they are created from these games.

And when you see the method of rating these book's strength you can instantly understand the whole point. The method is by playing short time control games! :-)

The problem is .ctg books.  They are one-dimensional and highly recursive.  By one-dimensional I mean they depend entirely on empirical results, which obviously can be quite misleading.

OK, but your opponent must have cooperated. It takes two to tango...

Engines match = on one computer. Both engines got that same book. If you do that using e.g. DF11 book, every time a different opening is played. But in that test I got only B90.

Ah, ok, I've never really considered playing a book against itself...

It was meant as a test of 2 different Rybka versions ;)
So both should have equal chances.
