> 3 TeraBit HD

So, 384 gigabytes?
Parent - - By turbojuice1122 (Gold) Date 2009-08-15 12:35
Nice one. :-)  I was just thinking something similar yesterday when someone mentioned "25 gigabit of storage space" to me.

> "25 gigabit of storage space"

They only make the mistake because giga-bite sounds so stupid.

It's giga-syllable in Finnish. People seem to remember that better. :yell:

sorry im lost what do you mean?

i thought 1,000 gigs was a terabyte? thus its a 3 Terabyte system
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) Date 2009-08-15 14:14
1 TeraBit = 1/8 TeraBytes.
Parent - - By ArtOfAttack (*) Date 2009-08-15 14:28
guess i wrote it wrong then, i shall change to stop confusion
Parent - By Uly (Gold) Date 2009-08-15 16:45
Please note that having more hardware space doesn't increase engine strength.

Please explain these settings, e.g. why 22 but not 20 (or 15, or 25)? Why 4?? Please don't tell me that you have scientifical data which proves that 4 is better than 0, 3 or 5...

no reason at all, just testing different settings....im just shocked that a 1600 blitz player can rip Rybka a new hole....and i watched the game as it happened...i know its an anti computer opening but the big R got a spanking
Parent - - By Uri Blass (*****) Date 2009-08-15 16:21
I can only see a game that rybka won convincingly not because of time but because of the board when the anti-computer opening did not work assuming the target of the human is to draw and not to lose in more moves.

I do not understand the reason that you are shocked.

sorry i dont understand you say Rybka won convincingly? Rybka was black! run the game again, rybka even offered her Queen because of Rh3
Parent - By Peter Grayson (****) Date 2009-08-15 17:30 Edited 2009-08-15 17:34
You must have your games mixed up. At what point does Black offer her Queen because of Rh3 threat? In fact I cannot see any point in the game where white could play Rh3. All I see is a White attempt to blockade that Rybka breaks down and wins. The game notes say that Black ELO was 3118 so as Rybka was not the 1600 player then Rybka was Black here. So how did Rybka win on time?

Immediately I see Black plays 2..e6 then the whole game is called into disrepute. None of the books I have would play this move and only a few have it included but certainly not to be played by Black nor does Rybka play this move freely with default settings so the whole game smacks of an attempt to set it up! Even so Rybka convincingly destroys her opponent. So why did Rybka stop playing when after 85.Re1..Qxe1  mate in 8 is announced by Rybka? Did someone switch off the PC? Or more likely the operator could not make the moves quickly enough? So hardly an engine defeat.

Irrespective of the engine settings, I would still be interested in the game conditions. It seems all of these 1600 rated players were seriously booked up on the Van't Krujs or Nimzo-Larsen opening? Did Rybka get the full 180s or was operator time deducted? Were opponents also playing off just 180s too or did they have longer?

im the operator, its running on auto, it was a 3 min game, he played it about 20 times until Art got into the postion he wanted and boom it got destroyed...need someone to find a good line against this because its lost as soon as it gets out of book pretty much...

Now moved from CA10 to chesspartner 6 and it seems its playing much better, also found some book from some guy and its called Jadeite, no idea if its good but its the only book i can find that works with cp6.

Here what he says about it

Book built from pgn database derived from a hybrid of human GM games rated over 2700+ as well as a comp vs comp database rated over 2800. and a few secrets not to be expressed here.

Try 6...Nc6 instead.  Or if you don't like that try 7...Nc6.
