1) Use the built-in online tablebase access in Aquarium
2) Buy a subset of the tablebases on DVDs
3) Download the tablebases you need from the Internet
4) Generate them yourself
The tablebases are OS independent and compatible with Aquarium (and any chess engine that supports them), regardless of where you get them from.
Online tablebase Access in Aquarium
The big advantage of this method is that you get access to all 3-6 piece tablebases without downloading or installing them on your computer. When you are viewing a position in a game with 6 or fewer pieces, you can click the TB6 Online button and Aquarium will automatically contact the ChessOK tablebase server and add a best variation with evaluation to the notation.
This method cannot be extended to let chess engines access the ChessOK tablebase server during engine analysis (playing, infinite analysis, IDeA etc.). The Internet is too slow for that. So if you want to let Rybka and other engines use tablebases, you need to install them on your computer.
Purchase a subset on DVDs
Most people buy their tablebase collections either from Chessbase or ChessOK.
Chessbase sells "DVD Endgame Turbo 3" with all 3-5 piece endgames and the 12 six-piece endgames marked in the 'CB' column in the table below. Their collection comes on 9 DVDs and contains 43GB of data.
ChessOK sells "Gold Nalimov Tablebases" containing all 3-5 piece endgames and the 34 six-piece endgames marked in the 'OK' column in the table below. Their collection comes on 12 DVDs and contains 100GB of data.
Here is a list of the 6-piece tablebases offered by these two products. An 'X' in the OK column means that the tablebase in the Tbase column in included in the ChessOK product. An 'X' in the CB column means that it is included in the Chessbase product.

As you can see, there is a big difference between these two products. For prices check the ChessOK and Chessbase websites. Note that this list only shows the fraction of the 6-piece tablebases that is offered by either ChessOK or Chessbase.
Download from the Internet
Tablebases are huge, more than one terabyte in total, but check out these two (free) sites if you want to download some (or all ) of them:
a) http://tablebase.sesse.net/ provides direct download of tablebases without any of the annoyances normally associated with such services. This server was set up by Sesse, a forum regular and a huge contributor to the Rybka community. Don't use a download manager that opens multiple connections at the same time, or you will suddenly find your IP blocked.
b) http://kirill-kryukov.com/chess/tablebases-online/: "This page is an attempt to organize a persistent online availability of the whole set of Nalimov 6-men tablebases". You have to use eMule to download the tablebases. This site also gives links to some other sites hosting tablebases.
The fourth an final method is to generate tablebases from scratch. For doing that you need to get hold of Nalimov's tablebase generator. Dann Corbit hosts TBGEN, but it seems that this version can only generate up to 5-piece endgames. TBGEN is available on many other sites, but I didn't find the version which can generate 6-piece endgames.
Of course you can also mix and match: Use the Aquarium online tablebase access to evaluate 3-6 piece endgame positions, buy one of the DVD collections, download additional tablebases as needed etc.
> If you want to use Nalimov tablebases for Aquarium you have three options:
4) Generate them yourself with [link to TBGEN goes here].

Small correction, Dadi :-) (I found your info very informative!!!)
Since I counted 11 and 35 in your table, I checked on the ChessOK and ChessBase sites, and found the error: RB-NN is in the ChessBase product, and NOT in the ChessOK product!
I had copied your table when it just came out, the day before...
(how did YOU find out that something was wrong? :-))
Hello, I want to download the 5-man tablebases from Sesse.net, but I don't know how to download them in one action. I guess I don't have to manually click every single file to download one by one. Can anybody tell me how to do it the quick way?
Thank you in advance.
http://tablebase.sesse.net not good!
Not load! :-( it is not possible to pour it!
Thanks for help!
Thanks you for help
> How can you download 24 files if you do not reconnect often?
One file at a time. You can use a download manager if you set it to only grab one file at a time and don't use concurrent connections. I used the Firefox plugin DownloadThemAll and didn't have any problems. I think the ban list is reset regularly so you'll have the opportunity to try again. Remember to play nice and the server won't get grumpy.
> in what way have i made a blunder?
Who said you made a blunder? I was answering your question, yes, it is ok in most correspondance games to use table bases! Or any books or engines.
[Edit] I see what you saw. That's known as my signature line. you can go in "options" and enter a line as a signature. Sorry for the misunderstanding!
Thanks for the info, i wasn't really sure if tablebases were permitted.
Just for the record, at what point during a game is a player permitted to access the tablebases?
It's many years since i played correspondence, i'm not sure tablebases were available then...
