Comes from this thread

In this game NATIONAL12 & Vempele get white, NATIONAL12 and Vytron get the odd moves while Vempele and PortCitySlim get the even moves. Moves are laced, so your clock doesn't start tickling until the opponents have moved at both boards.

It will be NATIONAL12's turn to move as soon as PortCitySlim moves at the other board, then PortCitySlim moves here, then Vempele, then me.

Hey, wasn't Vytron supposed to get the odd moves in this game?

> NATIONAL12 and Vytron get the odd moves while Vempele and PortCitySlim get the even moves.

But:

>It will be NATIONAL12's turn to move as soon as PortCitySlim moves at the other board, then PortCitySlim moves here, then Vempele, then me.

Shhh, I was going to point that out in case we were losing the game, to restart it...

Anyway, apparently keeping the games laced isn't practical (I'm the only one left to break the lace but I'll do it soon), any objection to keep the game to unique time control (unlaced) and just in case someone has to move at two boards he gets 48 hours to move? It's simpler.
Parent - By Vempele (Silver) [fi] Date 2009-05-09 07:42

> It's simpler.

Ok for me.
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2009-05-09 07:46
you cant just keep changing the rules agreed on by both sides.i think we should keep them laced.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2009-05-09 08:03
Ok, ok, I was just saying, not changing the rules, I'm just confuzzled so I don't know in what game my clock is running and in which one the clock will start running only after you have moved at the other (?) board, that's all.
Parent - - By Vempele (Silver) [fi] Date 2009-05-09 08:13
And it's going to get worse. Most of the next few moves on the other board are going to be forced...
Parent - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2009-05-09 08:23 Edited 2009-05-09 08:35
nothing unusual about that.

we can still play at a decent speed,at the moment we are waiting for PCS in game 2.

my mistake here,we are waiting for Vytrons sixth move
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2009-05-09 08:24
Actually that's good, since "laced" means "it's the turn of Vempele and Nat12 at one board and PCS and Vytron at the other", one game can get in sync by just moving, eventually.
Parent - By Bobby C (****) Date 2009-05-09 08:28
Two more half moves need to be played at this board first. We need to have both board at move number 7. Then we can start again and make sure we keep it laced.

Edit: Vytron follows Vempele not me, so it is Vytrons move then Nat12's move here. After Nat 12 moves here then I will move here and Vytron will move at the other board.

Which post should we reply to?

2.c4 Twice as good as any other move - Rybka

Also, it's more flexible (than Nf3). For both sides.

> Which post should we reply to?

You can reply to the post you want, preferably the first post to avoid evil indent (but in this case I'm replying to your post to follow quote.)

I can't reply until Vempele makes his move on the other board. Right?
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2009-05-08 07:12
You can, but then Vempele's clock wouldn't start running until he moves at the other board, so you'd be giving him a time advantage (e.g. almost 48 hours to move, etc.)
Parent - - By Bobby C (****) Date 2009-05-08 07:47
I think I will, I am not worried about giving him a time advantage here in this stage of the game. It is not like he is going to be running massive amounts of analysis in the first 5 moves. I might be busy tomorrow so I need to get my move out of the way.
Parent - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2009-05-08 07:51

Ugh, I hate this move, and I wouldn't play it if I was on my own, but I'd guess Bobby could get upset if I don't play it or something, so:

I think the forefathers had a good reason for it. It is not a bad loss of tempo, the bishop get's developed to e7 via b4 and that happens quite often in these types of lines by black.
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2009-05-09 22:13
as soon as Vempele posts his reply in game 2 to 7...c6,i will play my reply to 8.Bxd7+ in game 1.the games will then be linked again.i hope you do not think i am just being bloody minded on this.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2009-05-09 23:17
I think we have rules without clearly defined intentions, and that we should define the intention and follow it. I don't like that when at one game 5 moves are forced, we just sit idle waiting for the other game to catch up for no logical reason.
Parent - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2009-05-09 23:20
well if as you say they are forced the replys will be quick.in the meantime we can all concentrate on the other game.

Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2009-05-10 01:21
because this is a friendly game,i will explain my thinking as to why i am taking so long with this move.there is a battle of books on this move, there is is also a third move which is also ok.i am looking at them all.only d25 at the moment, but then i will switch engines.and after all this i will concentrate on the board itself and decide what i would like to play as a mere human.
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2009-05-10 01:49
further to my last rant,i have no doubt that some of the best book makers will be following our games closely, and if not they should be.most moden books are based on blitz on Playchess.i strongly doubt that any of them look at positions the way we are looking at them now.my 2 cents worth.

Vempele, please wait for Vytron to reply to your move at the other board before moving here. Thanks :)

Rybka suggests a novelty here. I feel obligated to either prove her wrong or play it.

the novelty you have found,is a novelty only in the sense in that their are no games in chessbase.i have it in one of my books.iassume it is the same as i found.
