ChessOK Team presents a new educatory program Peshk@. This program provides you with various ways to improve your chess skills.

Free Peshk@ Download (read review by Dadi Jonsson)

The basic program is absolutely free. You can download and try it together with lots of demo courses. There is a 20% discount for all the full courses available only for the first two weeks.

Learning mode is the main mode of this program, you have to find the best move or a superfine move combination within a given position. To nail down your advancements there are Play and Test modes. This program is designed to be an Internet application that gives you a unique chance to download either well-tried classic courses or the latest ones.

Feel free to contact us by e-mail info@chessok.com

I've downloaded and installed but "cannot connect to server".

I registered etc but same message....?
Parent - By irulats (****) [ie] Date 2009-05-01 23:04
I managed to get it working at last. My Windows live one care had blocked Pesk@'s internet acces without informing me.

This program looks interesting, I'll certainly give it a try.

I have already purchased the stand-alone versions of many of the Convekta training programs, Total chess training, encycolpaedia of middle games etc..

Are these compatible with Peshk@? Or do I have to but them again?

Thanks for another great product.

Me too, I have already purchased the full versions of Encyclopaedia of the Middlegame (all 4 volumes) and other material.
Are they compatible with Peshk?
Do I have to buy them again?
Parent - - By buffos (Silver) [gr] Date 2009-05-09 09:04
They are not compatible, but there is no reason to buy them again. Its the same material (just a centralized interface, although in the long run if there are many new courses, its nice to have them centralized)
Parent - - By Bertrand (**) [fr] Date 2009-05-09 14:30 Edited 2009-05-09 14:39
Two questions:

How should I proceed to ask for the files compatible with Peshka? (My orders were online orders, so they should be tracked in your system and easily verified.)

About Peshka, I used the link in the original post. Two issues:
- as said on page 2: impossible to close the course browser when no course is listed.

> I cannot close the course browser.
> I have just installed Peshk. Created my account with peshk. and the course browser opened. Click "ok", "close", or the cross on the top right corner doesn't do anything. anyone else?

- using the link installs an out-of-date version. When you check for updates, you get a file winupd7.exe or something like. I can't manage to locate that temporary update file. Any possibility for you to update the downloadable Peshka file please?

A third point is: having a centralized interface is a very good idea. Offering free of charge the new files for the new tool Peshka is very nice tool. However, I have noticed was not displaying the same layong with a course content on the left (from top to bottom of the screen, it is called "navigator" in Peschka), then the chess board, and on the far right the annotations and notation window. Is there a way to get something similar in peshka please?
It is very convenient to have it the original way. Peshka's default layout is too smal for browsing content on the original window.
The font size in Peshka is also too big.

A small suggestion: when you choose the layout, is it possible to choose it from a small sample. I mean, a window showing layouts could let you click on the one of your choice. That would be easier than clicking on a layout button to go from layout to layout.

i upgraded using the webupdate button INSIDE the program. Its easy, it downloads and installs itself

The line you quote had the purpose to request an updated installer, or the ability to save the update patch.

Hi Gavr:
I've been trying to contact someone at Chess OK and also Convekta for the last 3 days about buying 3 training programs for the price of 2 but never got an answer. Can I contact you about this and if so, what email? I've already tried info@chessOK.com (Olga).
                                          Thanks, CMA

Mail to sales@convekta.com. info@chessok.com is for technical support
Parent - - By cma6 (****) Date 2009-05-03 00:15
I already sent to sales@convekta.com but no reply. Please check the email there.

If nobody replied yet, try  mailing again (perhaps the first mail have been blocked) from a different e-mail address.

Here is my email, hopefully you can respond. I've sent 4 emails to Convekta and ChessOK but no response.

To Chess OK (Tinefol):
I want to get 3 training programs for the price of 2, as advertised on your websit:
      CT Art 3.0  $25
Chess Tactics for Intermediate Player    $25
      Chess Combinations Encyclopedia

Two questions: 1) are these 3 different programs?

                        2)  If yes, can I pay $50 for the 3 programs via Paypal (info@chessok.com)?
Also, the phone number shown is 330-488-842 but that is not a good US phone number. Do you have a US sales agent?
                                                Thank you

This feature now in developing, so when it appears I'll post in this forum about it. By the way, check new prices (there is 20% discount only for the first two weeks).
Parent - - By cma6 (****) Date 2009-05-04 20:31
Siddhartha,
What features is developing?
Can I enter an order or pay $50 to get 3 programs?
Also, does anyone at Convekta/ChessOK know the answer to my question about whether the 3 programs are different or are some the same program with different names (not the first time at Convekta for that)?
                                    Thanks, CMA

I guess those programs will be available for Peshka soon.
Parent - - By Tinefol (***) [ru] Date 2009-05-04 20:57
As far as I know, the 3 for 2 offer have been put down with the release of Peshka. There is a discount for Peshka courses though.
Parent - - By cma6 (****) Date 2009-05-04 21:33
Thanks, Felix and Tinefol, this is the first answer I've gotten.
I don't want to wait for Peshka and the complications of installing a new program.

Question for Tinefol: since it is too complicated to buy 3 programs, can I buy just CT Art 3.0  through Paypal now?

If I have to get Peshka, I probably won't buy anything, since it just adds to the complexity of buying a program. It is supposed to be easy to spend one's money!

Hello,

I recommend to try the Demo of Peshka. Actually, Peshka is not a Demo software, just the courses (the content) are Demo. Peshka is only a new interface where you will be able to load any course you buy (tactics for various levels, strategy, etc...) or any Demo Course you download. This way you only have to install one software and then Download (after purchasing) the courses you want, but inside the program! is really easy.

I have been navigating (inside Peshka) throught the "online" courses you can buy and I think the content of the courses is the same or pretty similar to the old versions.

So I recommend if you buy something to do it inside Peshka, because the interface is much better (and good looking) than the old versions.
Parent - - By Tinefol (***) [ru] Date 2009-05-05 06:34
Sure, anytime you want, its fairly easy.

Peshka is freeware by itself, only courses are not. We are incorporating all the existing training programs in Peshka by creating courses.
Parent - - By keoki010 (Silver) [us] Date 2009-05-05 14:02
I was charged $25 for Peska and $20 for a course and when it downloaded it was the wrong course. I have sent an email to chessok but haven't heard back as yet.
Parent - - By Tinefol (***) [ru] Date 2009-05-05 15:25
Peshka is freeware. Perhaps you're speaking of Peshka payment card, which is used to buy courses. Courses can only be bought via PayPal, so if you attempted to do it through credit card, nothing will be charged.
Parent - By keoki010 (Silver) [us] Date 2009-05-05 16:23
Ok! Thanks Tinefol, I'll use paypal.
Parent - - By cma6 (****) Date 2009-05-05 14:48
Hi Tinefol:
I'm not interested in Peshka, I simply want to buy Ct Art 3.0. Can I do that by Paypal?
Parent - - By Tinefol (***) [ru] Date 2009-05-05 15:22
Yes, as I said - its fairly easy and quick.
Parent - - By cma6 (****) Date 2009-05-05 16:28
How? I'm not interested in Peshka. Can I pay by Paypal?
Parent - - By Vempele (Silver) [fi] Date 2009-05-05 17:43

> I'm not interested in Peshka.

Then what are you doing in this thread?
Parent - - By cma6 (****) Date 2009-05-05 19:01
Because I'm trying to buy a product from Convekta, CT Art, which is proving impossible to do.
Parent - By Vempele (Silver) [fi] Date 2009-05-05 19:04
Still nothing to do with Peshka (other than the fact that Peshka is the successor of CT-ART).

Thanks, Felix, for the link. Yes, one is supposed to be able to use Paypal, but I just get an error message when I try. I appreciate your assistance.
However, I'm now over my 1-week limit to buy a product online, so I'll have to forget about these products.

" I'm now over my 1-week limit to buy a product online"

:)

I guess you add it to the cart and then click on "check out with paypal" -  what exactly does the error message say?
Parent - - By cma6 (****) Date 2009-05-05 21:21
Hi Felix:
Based on your link, I tried to buy CT-Art by Paypal. The first few times, Convekta insisted I buy a $25 Peshka card. Finally, after much deleting and starting over, I was able to in theory pay for CT Art directly with Paypal. Not easy to do, I can tell you.

I even got a notice of payment from Paypal, but not from Convekta, and no download link from Convekta, but let's see what happens in a week.
I persisted in buying the product (or maybe losing $25?!) thanks to your good advice!

                                                                                                  Best, CMA

You appear to have missed the download link on order success page. You would receive the link tomorrow, when the sales staff sends it manually. The payment notices also have been sent, but unfortunately your e-mail provider blocks our automatic mails.

As for Peshka card - that probably has to do with you using the link from Peshka (as in below post from buffos). Sorry for the problems and delays, its usually smooth and quick.
Parent - - By cma6 (****) Date 2009-05-05 23:25
Hi Tenefol:
I never saw "Success" page. Chess OK just took me to Paypal where I paid.
I never received any notification from Convekta, only from Paypal.
My email provider does not block email from Convekta: I got Aquarium by email link from Convekta.
Parent - - By Tinefol (***) [ru] Date 2009-05-06 07:21 Edited 2009-05-06 07:30
Paypal should transfer you to order success page after entering the details. If it did not... I only can blame the Paypal. That's a second such case in 3 months. I'm sorry, not much we can do.
We are sending automatic e-mails from a different e-mail server, which really gets blocked by your e-mail provider.
Anyways, you should have received the link by now.
Parent - - By cma6 (****) Date 2009-05-06 15:51
Thank you, Tinefol, I received the link but after the complicated installation process, using a burned CD, when I tried to use CT Art 3.0,
after installation, whatever I clicked, I got this error:

"Access violation at address 00442094 in module CTArt3. Read of address 0000014c."

So the progam cannot be used. What should I do?
Parent - - By Vempele (Silver) [fi] Date 2009-05-06 15:55
Things to try:

1. Compatibility mode
2. Run as admin
Parent - - By cma6 (****) Date 2009-05-06 20:45
Vempele:
Thank you for the ideas. I'm not really a computer pro, but I believe that all my systems are run as "admin."

But what do you mean by "compatibility mode"? What should I be doing?

Would it be a waste of time to uninstall CT Art and reinstall? (I think it would!)

                                          Best, CMA
Parent - - By Vempele (Silver) [fi] Date 2009-05-06 20:47
Right-click->Run as administrator.
Properties->Compatibility
Parent - - By cma6 (****) Date 2009-05-06 21:28
Right-click CT Art shortcut?
I see properties/compatibility but nothing about administrator.
Maybe I'm the only one in the last 6 months to buy and install CT Art 3.0. It's an old program.
Parent - - By Felix Kling (Gold) [de] Date 2009-05-06 22:32 Edited 2009-05-06 22:35
OK, maybe Convekta can give the Peshka version of CT Art to you when it's ready :)

I remember installing CT Art some time ago, but when I formatted my hard disk it was deleted. The program itself was quite ok (the tasks were interesting and had a good level for everyone), but at some point I couldn't start it with Wine anymore, then again it worked and so on. I guess on an old Windows it runs without problems :)
Parent - By cma6 (****) Date 2009-05-06 23:18
It may be a Windows 95 version. When I click on compatibility, it shows "Windows 95" but grayed out, so no changes possible.
Parent - - By Tinefol (***) [ru] Date 2009-05-06 17:19
Windows version?
Parent - - By cma6 (****) Date 2009-05-06 20:42
Hi Tenefol:
This is Windows XP Pro (32-bit.)
Thank you for your assistance. I wonder if the problem is the two-step procedure: download and the burn to CD?
Parent - - By Tinefol (***) [ru] Date 2009-05-07 07:56
Well, this is from our FAQ:

Q: I bought training program CT-ART (for download), installed it, but when I try to run it, some error occurs.

A: Training program (download version) is necessary to install from CD with particular structure.
To install CT-ART 3.0 you should do the following operations:
1) Download the file
2) Unpack it. After unpacking the program the folder CT-ART 3.0 will be created.
3) Inside of the folder CT-ART 3.0 there are folders ‘FONT’ and “ENGLISH” which should be copied to a CD. CD catalogue looks like the following:
English
FONTS
4) Double click on the ct-art.exe file in the folder ‘ENGLISH’ on the CD to start the installation process.

If it doesn't work, I can only direct you to our technical support at info@chessok.com

I installed Peshka, tried to buy both CT Art and Encylopedia of Combinations, both with Paypal.
I could not buy anything. I uninstalled Peshka.
Peshka is an exemplar of "How not to sell products."
