I'm trying to understand the different packages for the coming R3 distribution.

Is the only way to obtain the new Rybka 3 specific openingi book through Chessbase? I ask because I'm looking to buy a bundle with Aquarium. I already have Chessbase GUI's and I'm eager to try Aquarium.

Yes. It's only sold as a separate package. Without Rybka, without a GUI.

I guess I'll have to stay tuned as to the results of Rybka 3 with this new book as opposed to with older books to decide if it's worth the purchase.

Depends on which results you mean. If you are talking about results on the server, waiting could kill the few weeks where the book might be of use...
