I'll use even weaker rival next time!

Rybka 2.3.2a (3129) - Anechka 0.08 (2400); 345 Games, +340 =5 -0, +854 Elo.
Rybka 2.3.2a (3129) - Comet B68 (2500); 208 Games, +191 =17 -0, +548 Elo.
Rybka 2.3.2a (3129) - Amyan 1.597 (2580) 101 Games, +98 =3 -0, +728 Elo.

Rybka is way too serious; couldn't lose a single game.
Join me! Let's show Rybka what weak programs are made of!

Your Rybka rating is from the 64-bit, 4 CPU version. Single 32-bit Rybka has 3028 on the CCRL 40/40 list, and 3020 on the 40/4 blitz list.

Impressive results. I don't know Ufim or Anechka, but Comet is a solid good engine, very old though... Amyan 1.597 too; it was ACCA Champion 2006. (AFAIK it was indeed that version, of 2005.)

Actually this is very interesting. It apparently refutes the widely held belief (my belief included) that programs will get lower ratings when they play markedly inferior opponents. These results indicate that if anything the opposite is true.

>These results indicate that if anything the opposite is true.

Or that the ELO model is not suitable for these kind of matches....
Parent - - By lkaufman (*****) Date 2008-07-05 20:05
Actually these results are reasonably consistent with the Elo model, especially if you consider that the effective sample size is tiny in the sense that a half point more or less has a big effect on the rating when you only get a few draws in total. Also there are two versions of the Elo system, one using the normal distribution and one using the "logistic" distribution. They are pretty much the same for moderate Elo differences, but the two systems diverge noticeably when you get out several hundre points, as here. These results seem to fall in between the two models.

Single Rybka 32-bit isn't 3129 in blitz, but 3020, at CCRL. If +/- 100 Elo points matter here at all :-)

Yes, I already allowed for this when making my comment.
