This thread here might prove to be interesting for Larry. The guy made a statistical analysis of the CEGT games regarding openings and castling and winning probabilities. Especially he analyzed certain moves which happen in the games and their influence on the winning probablity:

If I may say so, the findings are trivial.  But that isn't what matters; the point is that he approached the problem empirically and came up with verifiable and objective findings.  From a tiny acorn does a mighty oak grow.
