how much is it?
christ i cant find it,but approx £40 from shredder website.
but should i really put money into an engine that will never be updated?
please trust me on this.if you do not feel you have value for money,i will send you money order.
> when posts are being made after several warnings what can you do?
In the sidserious case, he was posting deliberately new threads in wrong sections over and over, and he created new threads about the same subject on the wrong section immediately after they were moved to the Flip Side. We kept asking him to stop until he finally did, but no content (even, duplicate content) was deleted.
So I disagree on deleting content posted on the wrong place, when it can be moved to the right place.
they have funny ways of doing things there.. i can adjust to almost anything.. any rules.. even wierd ones. and they would have the right to make any rules they choose (although they give up the claim their are a free and do-as-you-please forum, as they like to say at times).. anyhow, the problem is consistency of application of the rules... especially when application of them always favours a pro-hiarcs member
It is interesting how some of your team mates disagree with you. I have received 2 apologies today for your posts.
for which posts?
Actually that is a great idea maybe I will move the whole trash thread, and any future posts of this nature to our equivalent of the Flip Side then normal life can resume on the forum.
robert is a one off ask Cozzie
I pm you an apology for some of the trash. I am sure all our team members all are great sportsmen. Its just that our humor might differ.
Hi Soren,
Thanks very much for the PM :)

i remember saying this, but cannot remember in what context it was made.i cannot locate the post, however i am sure you would not use it to put a different twist on things.
you know that's not what i was referring to.... i had no problems with that particular thing, and even supported it. but then 'ugly' and disgusting pictures were posted and supported by your team.... it was an abuse of power.
and i hope you're not implying i posted pictures of "real people suffering"....
things have blown over a little in there, but what ticks me off is that the moderation isn't fair. i have no problem with rules and such, but apply them fairly. i know for a fact, if anything, guests to the rybka forum are given a little more freedom than usual. that's respect.

btw, i did not trash any Hiarcs threads.. i'm not sure if you're claiming that i did. but just to set the record straight
lets quieting this down boys.our work on the moves is done, the game is won for us.i feel so good about it that i have just lit up a very, very expensive cigar.a genuine COHIBA.
i know the game is won.. but the sweet taste of victory is gone.. stolen.
oh well.. thankfully there is the good 'ol Rybka Forum...

I'm not on either team, so I guess it is ok to post a quick analysis of the position given by Rybka on my nonstate-of-the-art laptop after about 15 minutes of thought. Rybka thinks the game is about dead even, even though she has the extra pawn. So Rybka thinks white has compensation (so far) for the pawn. I give kudos to white for having the guts to play a gambit against Rybka. This will be an interesting game.

Thanks for your post. I guess we could have played a mainline sicilian which would have had lots of playchess theory and novelties attached but we decided to make it interesting and try the morra at this level - so far it seems your analyiss is correct.
dont bet on it
I give kudos to white for having the guts to play a gambit against Rybka.
Of course, keep in mind that they are not playing against Rybka--they are playing against the Rybka Warriors. :-)

close the curtains! close the curtains!
we must not show them rybka analysis.. they may find a good defense or something...
(up to now i was sure that the hamsters were putting all their faith on Hiarcs12... i hope this doesn't spoil it all) :-D

Sorry tomski1981...you're right, I probably should not have posted a specific analysis which included moves while the game is in progress. I just assumed that both sides would be looking at Rybka's and HIARC's analyses anyway.
Do the rules of this match in fact forbid each side to look at the analysis of the opposing engine, or is this a freestyle "anything goes" type of match?
Regards,
Milton

It's freestyle. I would bet a moderately large amount of money that the vast majority of their computer-based analysis comes from Rybka.
We are using Rybka of course but you would lose your bet as I am sure Graham could confirm. The engines we are using regularly include
Hiarcs
Rybka
Shredder
Glaurung
Crafty
Crash Test Dummy
Fritz11
Junior
Zappa
I have probably forgotten some but these are what spring to mind.

Crash Test Dummy? ;-)
I've heard rumours that this is the Rybka's teams main analysis engine - besides Hiarcs. (Mainly because they are bored, I think.)
As it is not released to the public i doubt it. It is the latest engine by Richard Pijl the successor to The baron.
Oh, I see. Didn't know that. How strong is it?
Difficult to know its strength. Richards engines always perform well at Leiden usually just behind the top group. It is a nice engine and plays well.
And has at last, made the "promise"/wish of Richard come true? I mean he always said that the ultimate purpose of Baron was to create an engine that would play very very good the endgame. His goal was that! Does CTD finally achieved this? (I doubt. :-) )
you would lose your bet as I am sure Graham could confirm
I see then that the team has changed very considerably from when you were playing against me and in the previous games--unless you're confusing number of posts with amount of analysis. :-)

i notice that Turbostar 432 is missing from your list.
Not to Worry
the old Dedicated Chess Computers are well represented on the Mighty Hiarcs team
The Novag Super Expert B6 has joined the team and is currently pondering away happily:

Yes, I can confirm that Turbo would have lost such a bet.
i think you can confirm to Hamster forum that we do not rely only on Rybka

Indeed. :-)

If it's freestyle, I have to believe that The Rybka Warriors are taking advantage of their inside contacts to use Rybka 3 (or what passes for Rybka 3 at the moment). This cannot be a good thing for white.
