This now is a tablebase stuff. We have 6-man?
We have 108GB of 6man I think .. but this is a draw .. the book did well but fell at final hurdle
What draw? I get mate in 43 after some QUICK analysis with full 6 piece Nalimov tbs and 4,5 Shredderbases.
Quick analysis as i've said so i(and Shredder) may missed some things.....
Quick analysis as i've said so i(and Shredder) may missed some things.....
We have ~113 GB of 6 man and ~7 GB 3-5 man.

Well, the draw was a bit of an anti climax, but still you did a great job Nick! Thanks a lot for the entertaining sunday, I really enjoyed it! And another crushing Rybka victory, 3 points clear of number two. Nice show!
Thanks Jeroen - and for your support, I will track that game down, this Polyglot book is only 4 weeks old and still a bit of an experiment, still it's beating compmaster.ctg by over 70 elo in Rybka v Rybka testing :)
Any time Nick! And greetings from Caroline :-)
;) Hi Caroline - have a good evening guys.
It's amazing how this crap can get past all the safeguards ... there is an easy way to fix this though so it never happens again :)

+1 - great job, Nick.
It seems that Rybka was too happy to trade down into the drawn endgame in the last round - it's a contempt issue. Probably, the rook endgame wasn't handled ideally either. We'll get this one next time.

Ouch.....
Which version of Rybka was used in this Tournament?
2.3.2f29, the latest version.
Not really - we went back to 2.3.2y24 after lots of tests ;)
Aha! Now 2.3.2f29 *surely* would have won the game..... Just kidding :-).
Well, after I took over that comp again, I saw that you were right - obviously Nick used 2.3.2f29 and not 2.3.2y24. 2.3.2y24 would have won the game for shure ;) Maybe we would have even got 15 out of 14 :)
r7/8/8/7R/2P2PP1/4p3/1K2k3/8 b - - 0 42
In this position Rybka thinks it is winning ... at least on my dual core 2ghz laptop ... more work needed I guess in these sort of positions. Rybka probably overevaluated its passed pawn and underevaluated the pawn chain. Anyway at least it is pushing for a win and the best chance would be to Queen.
Great result though for Rybka and it looks like Rybka 3 will be a ringer.
Rybka won the exhibition,Sjeng Hiarcs8x won the Tournament.

Wow, shame with the last draw.
But seriously, this was just brutal. 13.5/14, with second place shared at 10/14... And the field wasn't exactly a patzer field either. Which "major" engines were missing? Fritz, Shredder, Zappa?

It's not a bad result :) Rybka 3 is just awesome, it's incredible to think what Vas and Larry have done.
In this event - I guess Naum and Junior could have been there also.

And the most important player of this weekend: Nick Carlin! Thanks once again Nick, following tourneys like this makes a lot of fun. And if people still doubt the strength of the new Rybka 3: Two tournaments (Leiden, ACCA), 22 points from 23 games, no loss, only 2 draws. Amen.

Yes ... thank Nick for providing the show. Nick is the master of ICC. Also kudos to Vas, Larry and Jeroen for all the hard work on Rybka ... it seems to have paid off handsomely. I very much like this rapid chess format ... lot of games very quickly. With hardware being as strong as it is ... this Rapid format is equivalent to 120 0 of just a year or so ago.
Thanks Majd, back to the real world now :)
Thanks Jeroen you busy bee ! Get back to your ... :)
I know very little about most of these programs; does anyone have an educated guess as to what the average rating of this field would be on either the CCRL or CEGT scale? Or, second question, what would the average rating of Rybka's opposition be on those scales (obviously much higher than the first number)? Could Anand or Kramnik or Carlsen have scored 50% against Rybka's opponents?
I would guess even the #10 rated program would have no problems against Anand or Kramnik or Carlsen and my guess would be that would lose very badly ... especially at the rapid time control. Just quickly looking at the game Rybka vs. Frenzee is enough to put the fear in any GM. I would bet all the top 10 programs are at least 2700 ELO .. with an average being around 2800 ELO ... which would make Rybka's performance quite remarkable.
In rapid chess, that's probably true. The weakest of the top 10 (after adjusting Crafty for 8 processors) are in the low 2600s on CCRL 40/20.
Well done Nick. Thanks for running everything and providing the updates here, I hope that you had fun. :)
And yeah, running the table is tough. Next time ..

Wow, congratulations Rybka Team on the outstanding result, 13.5(!)/14.
I went to that webpage you included (2008 ACCA WCRCC) and there was a statement "All matches in pgn format downloaded here" but there did NOT seem to be a link provided. Is there something that can be done about that?
Seems there was a problem with the auto game collector, the TD will put the games up once he's received them from all the participants, so keep watching:
