Another one bites the dust :-). Rivaldo was quite close with his predictions: win in 44 or 51.

Indeed he was!

From CTD/TheBaron account ...

TheGiver(C)(64): this new version of rybka is so good they dont need to make it better

He he, one can always improve dear Richard :-).

Time for the next round? I hope we make it until the Spain-Italy match!

Round 13 ... Rybka vs. Amateur by Will Singleton.  Sicilian defence :)  Jeroen as Moro Gamgee I think you might recognize this line ..

This is not going to be pretty. Move 16 and Rybka at +0.90 already, Amateur at +0.1...

Wow, do you know that Amateur managed to do something in this game that is a true problem chess issue? It played a7-a5-a4-a3-a2-a1 = Q which is called the 'Excelsior theme'. One pawn running to the other side, that can be captured many times, but still does the impossible and promotes. Looks like the Turkish football team :-)

Yes, it's still 0-0. Nothing happening, English symetrical, in chess terms.

Here are info graphics which are updated realtime:

(click into "ESP-ITA" for the details)

They also offer a video livestream, but you need an austrian IP address to view it:

Sorry for off topic, but at least that is a match where the result to expect, is much less clear than in a Rybka tournament. :-D

Yes, still 0-0. Italy adopts a waiting strategy and Spain is pushing a bit, without taking too much risk.
Parent - By Dragon Mist (****) [hr] Date 2008-06-22 19:08
Like I said, English Symetrical. :-)
Parent - - By Dragon Mist (****) [hr] Date 2008-06-22 18:37
It still hurts so much ... :-)

Parent - By Lukas Cimiotti (Bronze) [de] Date 2008-06-22 18:50

OK, looking forward to your next posting. Italy - Spain 0-0 after 30 mins, no big game yet.

jeroen, is it possible to get your opening book? or is it secret just for chess engine matches and tournaments?
Parent - By Dragon Mist (****) [hr] Date 2008-06-22 19:21
Yeah Jeroen, why don't you throw your hard work away for no obvious reason?

P.S. you'll probably get JN book with Rybka 3 pretty soon, chessorpoker

Don't tell us we're loosing the last game??
Parent - - By Venator (Bronze) [nl] Date 2008-06-22 19:32
Uh oh, how can we be a pawn down against Bugchess?!
Parent - By Dragon Mist (****) [hr] Date 2008-06-22 19:35
As long as rooks are on the board, I am pretty sure we have a chance.
Parent - By George Tsavdaris (****) Date 2008-06-22 19:37
Because it doesn't play perfect maybe? :-)

But this is good, since if Rybka had a perfect score it would make Vasik and Larry to relax and don't improve even more things. Now they will not be perfectly satisfied, so perhaps we can gain another 5 more ELO. :-)

But anyway i think Rybka will win this also....
