This has probably been up before, but is Rybka 3 able to see the draw with wrong bishop and pawn (plus extra pawns?) More generally, Rybka 2.3.2a keeps going into endgames with material advantage that can't be won. Is this gonna change?

Or do I have to think for myself in cc games? :-)

I was told that Rybka 3 is going to come with a 4-piece tablebase. You can download them for free, anyways. It will help a lot for endgame analysis once the position gets to about 6 or fewer pieces. And ofcourse the analysis of 3 and 4 piece endgames is perfect with the tablebase. I'm not sure what GUI, you're using, but I use Fritz 10. It's easy to put the tablebase in. Just google "4 piece tablebase download". They are available in more than one place online. You can purchase the 5-piece and 6-piece ones. And there is Endgame Turbo 2 and 3 which have the 5-piece tablebase and some 6-piece ones.

You can also download the 5- and 6-piece tablebases for free.  The only reason to spend $50 on the Endgame Turbos is if you don't have the time for the downloading, though these often don't have some of the most important ones, anyway, and you still have to download them.

Do you know where I can download parts of the 6-piece tablebase? All the sites that I find just give me links to file downloads that don't work.

This is one, though it's often busy.  I usually download mine from eMule, as I've learned that this is much faster.

I couldn't get any of the links within that link to work. I've seen a couple of those sites. The one with the colored letters for each piece of the 6 piece endgame tablebase is weird. When I click on the file I want, it just gives me a bunch of letters and numbers and the name of the file, but no link to download or anything. Doesn't make sense. So I downloaded eMule v.48a and I'm trying to get a couple pieces of the 6 piece tablebase but it just says "waiting".

you have got to be very brainy like yourself to understand E-Mule.i remember a very amusing post when a guy who was a computer programmer could not work it out.

Well, I don't do anything fancy with e-mule.  For downloading tablebases, I just type in the name of the one I need, for example, "kqppkq" and eMule tends to do the rest.
