Ty,

I haven't been on playchess in a while.  Is the place still drowning in trendy B90 Najdorf wars?

Although I am not active on the Playchess server, however, I as Corr. Chess player can say only one thing, thank you very much on your kindness and thank you for what you shared these games with all of us!

Greetings!

Luckily, I downloaded totally 917,271 games from the site, September 2008 - May 2012.
Converted into Chessbase format and the result file is only 300 MB instead of 5000.
Just some more manual processing needed (to separate games lost by time etc)
Parent - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-06-03 23:55
download the full 150 million games, and you will see the grow even if you filter the games

It's a decent start.

Dear Friends,

Just my 2 cents over this issue

A little 'Tutorial' for a high-quality Playchess database

Filter games (recommended to be used ChessBase program):
---------------------------------------------------------
1.Select the high-rated Players,as far as possible min 2600 Elo-3000 Elo
*Note:Its a good idea also to keep the low rated Players wins (e.g 2200 Elo - 2599 Elo) against high-rated Players too
2.Select those games, which are played mainly by Houdini 1.5a/2.0/2.0b/2.0c
*Note:Recommended to keep the game loses by Houdini against Critter,Ivanhoe,Rybka,Vitruvius,Stockfish...
3.Delete 'Bullet' games, which are played  especially at 1min time control
4.Delete 'Double' games
5.Delete those games, which are ended in 20-25 moves
6.Delete the games, which are lost by forfeit on time;reconnection;flag...
*Note:Some of those buggy games (which include very strong lines and they are lost due to bad connection/lost on time ...)
can be imported into your book, but for this you need to check and edit each game/line manually

And Finely (for superior performance):
-You need to create also new stronger variations that never played before

Hope this helps

i have many games on engine room up to yesterday, much more than what kosmodrom have. i probably won't give it away for nothing though because it is very hard and rare to collect.
