How many guys have saved lines from say 3-4 years ago that you are just waiting for to appear.Let me give you advice with latest hardware and engines you will either never get there or lines are no good.

George,a year ago someone showed me a line and it took me a  while but i busted it,i still havent the heart to tell him.

Sometimes I have a really good line but then save it and
"dementia or something" sets in and I forget where I saved it.  I've been trying to save stuff using a system but still lose a lot of good games and lines. :grin:

Mistake he did was showing it to you....

The idea of saving lines should be to ensure opponents uses more time due to the novelty.Imagine if thats the case in a 60/15 game and opponent spends 10-15 mins on the first novelty move and you are prepared 5-6 moves deeper on all possible lines.

As you go you don't sit idle you go prepare deeper into the chain and the opponent always has a hard task of playing catch up but also has to find the right moves in a shorter time frame.
