Oh yeah, those were the days teaming with you BigBen and Bobby C against a very strong team (I know because I played each of the Don Quijote members individually)

We should do that again some time, with tomski gone we still need a 4th member, turbojuice would be on my dream team...
Parent - - By ppipper (*****) [es] Date 2012-03-26 06:02
willing to do it as soon as everyone agrees!
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-03-26 07:34
Will you arrange a team as well, or will you play us by yourself?
Parent - - By ppipper (*****) [es] Date 2012-03-26 08:29
What do you prefer?
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-03-26 18:57
I have no idea, everything is cool with me , maybe we could do a series of matches, like::

5 players gather around.

First game: Player 1 Vs. Players {2, 3, 4 and 5} as team
Second game: Player 2 Vs. Players {1, 3, 4 and 5} as team
Third game: Player 3 Vs. Players {1, 2, 4 and 5} as team
Fourth game: Player 4 Vs. Players {1, 2, 3 and 5} as team
Last game: Player 5 Vs. Players {1, 2, 3 and 4} as team

The winner would be the player that manages to defeat the team he's against. The losers would be players that lose against the team. The teams would always get the black pieces, etc.

We could also make it so that if a player loses against the team he is eliminated and a new player would join to challenge the team (that is, if a team is found that is strong enough to beat the single player, the team shouldn't be disassembled), though I'd expect the games to be mostly draws.

We could build something fun out of this.

hi Uly, I think I would start by simple team vs team match (Black and white games)

otherwise there are a lot of games and they will take a lot of time...

about team members we have to see who is interested.  at least we have lost one member since last version of Quijote. Probably Barnard could enter if this isnot a problem for any of you. ..

> Probably Barnard could enter if this isnot a problem for any of you. ..

It probably would be a problem for Barnard, as the other day he threw at me as much Spanish expletives as he could, cancelled our 10 game match, resigned our game and he said he wouldn't ever play a game against me unless it was an absolute must (such as being matched in the WBCCC).

At the very least, I'd like him to apologize before facing a team he's in.
Parent - - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-03-28 01:20
apologised
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-03-28 01:26
Thanks Barnard.

Alright, so there's no problem.
Parent - By Barnard (Bronze) Date 2012-03-28 01:29
no no...the apologise is the other

If a slot is open I can play also.
Parent - - By Uly (Gold) [mx] Date 2012-03-28 03:55
Sure, you can join The Black Knights, I think the teams would look like this:

Don Quijote Team:

Barnard, keoki010, Mark Eldridge, ppipper.

The Black Knights:

BigBen, NATIONAL12, natmaku, Uly

Heh... actually, I haven't checked with Tony and Paul, but so far they've always been ready to play when needed
Parent - - By ppipper (*****) [es] Date 2012-03-28 07:19
We also have to wait Keoki010 and Mark to say something, if they want to play, and when.
Parent - By keoki010 (Bronze) [us] Date 2012-03-28 13:22
Sure I'll play.
Parent - By ppipper (*****) [es] Date 2012-03-26 06:01
oh thanks, it is true!

If this game is 'agreed' drawn on here, it still needs to be agreed drawn in the xfccplay client for the result to become official. Until that is done, the game continues.

I have always admired this manouver. At this position, White has a clear advantage, mainly because of his absolute domain of c file. Before launching a K - side attack, White must move his king to a safe place, otherwise it would be too vulnerable. Where is such a place?

White plays the great Kf1!, being the first move of impressive white king's walk around: f1-e1-d1-c1-b1.

Tigran Petrossian rocks... back in 1960.

What kind of game?
Parent - - By NATIONAL12 (Gold) [gb] Date 2012-03-27 20:48 Edited 2012-03-27 20:52
i think its a Jonathan Swift word.

Benjamin Disraeli used it in his novel Lothair(1870).
Parent - - By Nelson Hernandez (Silver) [us] Date 2012-03-28 03:24
It certainly is Swift.  Brobdingnag was where Gulliver was tiny.  Lilliput was where he was a giant, hence the Lilliputians.

Here is a 2 part question about your huge English vocab.

1. Were did you acquire this unique trait?

2. Did you consider ever being a English teacher or something a long these lines?
Parent - - By Nelson Hernandez (Silver) [us] Date 2012-03-28 04:06
My vocabulary is overrated.  Functional literacy is not unique.

I learned English the same way you did.  I think the whole difference between my skills and those of most people is that I read challenging books that weren't assigned by the teachers when I was a teenager.  A teen who reads and understands a difficult book on any topic, and is motivated to read it, has a big leg up in this world.  Conversely, a kid who sends out 200 texts a day and is glued to an electronic device is bound to have difficulty writing coherent grammatical sentences, let alone essays.  To build any muscle you need exercise.

The very thought of being a teacher causes me to recoil.  I wouldn't last a single day as a teacher.  I suppose the thing that would drive me craziest (not the only thing, but the biggest thing) would be students who didn't care a lick for learning but were obsessed with getting high grades by gaming the system.  That's how education is structured these days.  Kids who want to learn something are at a competitive disadvantage for elite college admissions.
