What's the difference between Deep Fritz 10.1 and Deep Fritz 10? Do they have the same strength?
DF 10 only worked correctly up to 2 core, that was why 10.1 was introduced to enable proper use of 4 core and above.
Thank you! So the version Kramnik played against in 2006 was kind of buggy, right?
Thats right.
How did the chessbase team find out the error then? was it thanks to the ratingslists?
All i know is that it took them sometime and they hid the update away somewhere on ChessBase forum.
They never openly discussed it.
They never openly discussed it.
That seems odd?
But in any case I suppose Deep fritz 10 on single core is still s faster tactically than Fritz 10 on 1 core, although the algorithms were exactly the same.

Oddly the upgrade to Deep Fritz 10.1 only came through with the Service Pack 3 downloadable from Chessbase. Subsequent service packs did not upgrade the engine. The last service pack is still available from link below but when I tried it, the engine was not updated and I had to dig out and install my saved copy of service pack 3. The upgraded engine was denoted as version 10,1,0,0.

So your engine says Deep fritz 10.1 when turning on the engine in the fritz gui?
It was reported elsewhere on another forum that there was in fact no change to the Deep fritz logo- even with a succesful uppdate so it would still read" Deep fritz 10"

you are correct although update was labelled 10.01 when you downloaded it your computer still read 10.
I told you the Fritz team said nothing,i was discussted with them and lost all trust in ChessBase.

Yes, if you check the engine properties, you need to see ...
