i think that all chess improvements have to do with search/ply these days-vas has a 100 core beast, all he does is play multiple sets of games giving one side a higher ply 22-23-24-25-26 and that your rybka, when it gets to super high depths is all fabrication- meaning the programmer has millions of ply 25-26-27 moves in his personal data code. when a new program releases he just allows them to to be configured- i also think top programmers work together modifieng chess code- i think they have programs capable of elo 3500 play as of now.

well, its their perquisite to do this, its not as the engines are not not better in some way. but as some were saying, it is an interesting subject! to me, ply is definite strength. imagine if 10,000 moves were brought to 25 ply, how much elo would this bring to a program?

Shouldn't this be a topic for 'Computer Chess' and not 'Rybka Discussion'?
