well,my game against ppipper i think is going into a drawing game, and my game against Sebi,im trying to take advantage of the position, but is so difficult, and if he plays well, the position must also be a draw

that position is more agressive than mine, and im really enjoying looking for your game, just i dont post until the game ends,i will post at that time(i mean comments about moves)

edit: now i'm not sure... but rg8 seems better --- the one point of g3 now however, the bishop is tempoed...

27...Rg8 was so much better. :red:  A bummer because in that case in many lines Black's attack is inexorable, as white has no time for queenside counterplay, and I had a simple plan and now I am worse.  Oh well.  Typical didn't double check - mistake stemming from the fact Kh1 was my top line,  I checked Kxh2 yesterday but forgot I didn't refute it!... wouldn't have played ...g3 if I didn't think it wins or gives me advantage... but I did, shame to ruin a game like that.  Should have checked things again.

....via Rg8-g7 Ne7-g8-f6 would have been tough, no counterplay for White, cannot ever take on b5 via queen.  It seems really difficult somehow to consolidate the Kingside, it may be possible... but it looks like Black is slightly better there. I'm pretty sure now that [edit: not wins, but Black has excellent chances].

Anyway, I'll try to now save a now miserable position with fresh eyes next week.  This weekend I am playing in the USATE this weekend, a fun ( my favorite ) team tournament in the US, lots of strong players turn out, and I get to play first board and have a fun time, and hopefully good games, and strong opposition at least for sure, will try not to get too outclassed...

I just possibly found the most awesome idea.  I'm not sure if it wins but it might....

it would be just a bit funny.

the problem with these positions is that they're just crazy, part of the reason i wanted to get the attack going bc if i don't white can often run the king to the queenside.

well, let's see if i lose this game, it will be with a bang

"Should have checked things again."

Take your time Matt, you have over 4 weeks left on your clock! :-)
And when David Evans has the same line, it can't be that bad... ;-)
Enjoy your tournament!
Parent - - By Schachmatt (****) [us] Date 2012-02-16 02:47
actually it's quite likely true i have much, much better winning chances here on 27...g3, than on 27...rg8 he can then dampen the move g3 or take c7, and i didn't check these as i should, and White will probably find something here that will draw, ok  be1 or rc1xc7, which stop my inroads into the Black position, bc otherwise White likely fall apart quickly.  this will be more fun and would be difficult to handle for anyone with the white pieces.  i like complications in chess, obviously...

i move too fast its true, thorough if i can help but fast.  it's a busy life.  well yes.... i think anybody would prefer g3 and i respect david's opinion, and intuitively this seems to me completely correct and right... but i actually spent more time on g3 than the rest of the game and although its mostly simple, soon everything got crazy in the line i didnt really check of course, and i didn't work every line of crazy out.... but who can really, and intuitively i should be fine, whatever the engines say given my attacking force...  i prefer my position, not entirely sure yet to which end. could be that i am simply winning, but then again, maybe not, no sense in looking at it all until paul's move.

Thanks Bettina for the kind words, and enjoy whatever it is you do.

You now sound so "lovely" optimistic, that warms my attacking-chess-heart! :-) And while we may have some different opinions about openings from time to time, i highly appreciate&respect all the human-moves&ideas you brought into this game to reach this interesting, some call it beautiful, position... doubt that anyone else in WBCCC would be capable of playing such a "crazy"-style... i called it "crazy", but its more a "wow, that guy takes risks and goes for the full battle"-admiration, which is rarely seen by someone playing the black pieces. I can only tell you from my personal experience in similar crazy complications that it takes a lot of time to follow all paths, making sure that no draw is possible (and there are a lot of them hidding in such kinds of position) and such a like... and with 26 days left you should have plenty time resources left to come to a good conclusion - so maybe this little "shock" came to the right time, sharpening your senses. And just looking at the board i think it may indeed be in your interest that g3 could have been played and the white king stays in the corner... If you can deliver here a half- or full-point, you will be a legend! :-)... Wishing you all the best for your play and enjoy your time, and thanks for your kind words.

Glad you enjoy the game and appreciate my efforts.  g3 was stronger than I anticipated and I'm glad I played it.  I'm fortunate that the positions seem to work out better than I anticipated in a key line that I had not mostly skipped and had not worked out correctly at the time - having seen that line through deeply, the position is more sensible now; so many moves had to be checked in a few variations.  I will enjoy and will take my time the next few moves, if necessary.  Definitely one of my best creative achievements regardless of how it turns out.  Cheers.

both side need to take time here.........

...
Parent - By Schachmatt (****) [us] Date 2012-02-15 18:45
thanks.  i'm going to have launch a withering attack to have compensation though, and the pawn sac will make things even more interesting.  didn't have to go for all that crazy perhaps although had i played rg8 white may have had a few 'out' lines.

g3 is i don't know.... unnecessarily risky i think ... as be1 probably would have been forced on rg8. still double c and takes c7 is another type of crazy thats unclear. in some lines too it seems like white can organize his kside enough for a draw, but no more. would be interesting to trade analyses after the game.  anyway...

in this case, i guess we both can play for a win here, it's a fair warning about the time use... there is a lot of poison here for both sides, i will go and attack all forces away. i will give paul lots to think about.

on g6 it is in the way, and on h4 it is not good. hence the remaneuvering. ok, the next move was already clear to me so i just made it...

by the way, this game has been a great pleasure, paul is playing some highly resourceful defense also.

I'm delighted by yours too and the high complexity of the position.  One of those very rare games in which the tension increases with each move and your opponent is up to the test; additionally the positions are exceedingly rich in ideas.  It's rare, too, to have position after position in which the best move is completely forced to hold the balance for both sides, at least in the short term.

Ah okay, I looked at it for 2 seconds and just didn't bother with it, the knight is always going to f6.  simple chess, put all the pieces on their best squares and then the tactics work out when things open up.

i have to be super-accurate too for the next few moves, but i have already seen these lines through, and i guess you'll see where that will take us.

must admit it's pretty crazy how every white try seems to be met with a different black counterstroke, i have enjoyed the computer evaluations on this game.

no can do. put in too good an effort to get lazy now.  though i admit i breezed through my first 27 or so moves without really much thought.  had i then played rg8 instead of g3 i guess things would have probably petered out quickly to a draw.  now you'll have to work for that draw, if even that exists
