Dont take it Otherwise. Its not like helping.
My point was white position is such that he cannot develop pieces to usual squares.
Now mostly unorthodox development will follow but not in your side. You will have classical plan.

> My point was white position is such that he cannot develop pieces to usual squares.

That was also my point some posts ago, when I posted that black would recover his a6 loss of tempo due to some what unorthodox white development.

And that is mainly the whole idea of ...a6. Not only it prevents some white moves on queen side, but it also helps to restrict white's own space for pieces on the other flank. Everything in life has a cost, and one of them is that ...a6 is rather passive move and does not allow black to even equalize (still )
Parent - By Master Om (*****) [in] Date 2012-02-10 14:59
I knew that a6 is not passive , in chess language its called Prophylaxis.
I saw nato's comment and as I know he understands french not so well, i didn't comment.
When queens get out off the bard, its the Queen side majority that wins the game.
Note:- Black is not bound to castle here

I was ready to play g4/h4 until OM gave that recommendation. I think we (garvin) need to provide a guidelines about this things.
Parent - By Master Om (*****) [in] Date 2012-02-10 15:21
I havenot said about g4 .
Parent - By Nelson Hernandez (Silver) [us] Date 2012-02-10 22:35
Bad form.  Please refrain from cheerleading for one move versus another.

White with 58.3% and 26.1% draws.

Correct ppipper.
Parent - - By ppipper (*****) [es] Date 2012-02-10 14:24
Thanks Garvin.

I just wanted to point out that we must be careful with comments about future moves. In any case, OM's point taken and there is not problem at all.

Having said that, constructive and interesting chatting like OM use to do is always welcome.

Thank you Jose. But I wont post like that next time.

> Thank you Jose. But I wont post like that next time

Basically it is a case that talking about past moves is ok, but talking about the future is not. If one of the players was to contact me and told me they had an issue with the commentary, then I would advise everyone of such and it would cease at that point.

But as no one has contacted me, carry on talking about past moves, so long as past move discussion is not going to impact future moves.
Parent - - By Master Om (*****) [in] Date 2012-02-10 15:09
It shouldn't IMHO as Its the players choice. My suggestions came with a lazy stare at the bizarre position.
Parent - - By Wrath of the Titans (****) [sa] Date 2012-02-10 15:16
It would still affect the game play OM as everyone of us have different perspective of the position. Better to comment on past moves but on future moves is a big NO.
Parent - By Master Om (*****) [in] Date 2012-02-10 15:19
Ok Ok I got it. I need center fresh I think.
Parent - - By Master Om (*****) [in] Date 2012-02-10 15:20
Should I delete the post ?
Parent - - By Garvin Gray (****) Date 2012-02-10 15:23
No need. Comments already seen by both players and the issue is being addressed. Deleting it changes nothing. Better to keep it up there as a frame of reference.
Parent - - By Master Om (*****) [in] Date 2012-02-10 15:36
Damn!! Ok. If any one comments in my game although it wouldnt have mattered much to me. I will play what I want.
Hope Both of them understands it.
Parent - - By ppipper (*****) [es] Date 2012-02-10 15:51
sure, no problem!

Issue solved and closed.

Novelty move.  Had been following Elfriede-Tooeasy, 0-1, an ICC games from 2003.
Parent - - By Kappatoo (****) [de] Date 2012-02-12 22:23
Wow, that's an early novelty. And ICC? I.e., a server blitz game between two humans?
Parent - - By Nelson Hernandez (Silver) [us] Date 2012-02-12 22:39
Yes, about your ICC game observations.  The players had decent ratings (2400+, which roughly translates to 2000 ELO) thus I kept them in the database.  As a percentage of the total database ICC games probably represent 1% or less.
Parent - - By Kappatoo (****) [de] Date 2012-02-12 23:03
Aha, interesting. You should have some embarassing games of a guy called 'Kappatoo' then as well.

By the way, here is an ICC story which you as a German scholar may appreciate: I (as, I assume, virtually everyone who played a sufficient number of games there) was insulted innumerous times on ICC, mostly when I had just won a game. But this one time, it really made me laugh: I was playing against some Russian guy and got completely destroyed. As I was just contemplating the ruins of my position, my opponent just said: 'kaputt'.
Parent - By Scott (****) Date 2012-02-13 01:58
Good story,
Parent - By Schachmatt (****) [us] Date 2012-02-12 22:25
surprising so early, esp. as c4 is a common response to a3 with c3 played in an advance french structure.

Hi,
I have something a little different but these things can be sketchy lol

That's interesting.  Can you print the whole game so I can see if this is really a different game or my game has been obfuscated (that sometimes happens)?

Thanks for the game.

I am glad to see your 6...a6. Anyway, I think 8.c3 is slightly better move than 8.a3
Parent - By Nelson Hernandez (Silver) [us] Date 2012-02-15 23:02
I see what happened.  I already have the game you posted (whew!), but coincidentally there is the game I cited as well.  The Inmortal game plays 9...O-O while Elfriede plays 9...f5.  Both were ICC games from 2003, and my book GUI picked one over the other for reasons I cannot determine.  That's quite a coincidence!

Next one is one of my favorite moves in these positions. The positional meaning, together with the double edge risk and the thematic theory about it. Also, white will have no less than half a dozen responses and I hope to gain some time pressure here.

I will post ...f5 in a while.

I hope it works.

ups great, then I will get an answer soon!

I think it's worth to analyze together (well, if you want to) this critical position (some moves around) when the game is finished. There is a lot.

I doubt that your move was indeed expected... :-), action doesn't look like it was... and the out-of-book-magic has just begun... *g*

there is no hurry natmaku, take all the time you need. The position deserves it.

I have a firm intuition about what is your move going to be, though. I will write it down in a secret envelop
