What are the latest news about the DEEP RYBKA 5? In what stage is the project? Can we rely on what Vas said even though Lukas said things are going slwer than they expected?
> ..., are we alone in the universe, who killed Kennedy, ...
> Vas has indicated that his next edition of Rybka (Rybka 5) will be issued in the first half of 2012.
No he didn't. He said "probably summer" and then Lukas made noises to suggest things were going slower than expected. I wouldn't get your hopes up....
> I actually doubt Houdini will be #1 for very long as Houdart seems to have lost interest in engine chess after all the negative stuff thrown at him.
I doubt Houdart have lost interest. Maybe you can give more details?
> An engine that I think will be #1 is an MP Komodo, and Rybka 5 will probably have to beat that.
Quite probable Komodo 4 MP will be a bit stronger than Houdini 2 at slow time controls. Note that if Rybka 5 can be stronger than that, then we are talking Rybka 5 will be at least 80-90 Elo points stronger than Rybka 4.1. I'm really not sure that it will be so good.. Hope so.

Gaмßito.
> If Rybka 5 does get released, it will be released as the #1 engine ... at least at LTC or big hardware. I actually doubt Houdini will be #1 for very long as Houdart seems to have lost interest in engine chess after all the negative stuff thrown at him. Houdini is already very well optimized and the easy gains will be harder to find. An engine that I think will be #1 is an MP Komodo, and Rybka 5 will probably have to beat that.
To beat Houdini 3 the future rivals will have to be at least 3050 Elo in the IPON list.
Do you think they will?

Why so many attention to a list that doesn't even share its games?

IPON is the best single-core rating list currently available.

If the games were available, yes. Otherwise not.
The argument around the lack of insight into the games played {effectively part of the method} is not something the majority of people are interested in; I guess it ultimately just comes down to 'Trust' and you either have it or you don't and it appears from the majority using IPON that most people trust Ingo.

Fighting talk!

IF you have achieved such an improvement then, IMO, I think you will be no.1 for certain. Vas may have done it privately but he won't stick that much elo in Rybka 5. Komodo may get there eventually though, who knows.
But you tease us. Yes you tease us, can't you give us a hint at the release date? Just a little hint? How about before or after July 2012?
and that they will provide time for evaluation by the testing groups.

agreed.

I am not so sure the cloud model is all that solid. Fritz 13's cloud like Let's Check feature didn't really bowl anyone over that much!

The current schedule for the Houdini 3 release is September 2012 - I like the idea of a yearly release.
Thanks for reply, usually chess programmers just say 'soooon' or something.September will be a big month!

This is an odd statement. What would be your basis for that?
